Title: This rim size too big for the front??
Post by: kevin40 on June 19, 2008, 06:25:39 PM
I have recently purchased 4 cobra R 4 lug rims for my 1985 cougar. I am now second guessing myself about the rims being too big for the front. The rims are 17 by 9's and the tires are P24540r17. Please help.

thanks,
kevin

I had the 17x9's on the front of my Sport with the 245 40 17's (255 40 17's out back).I actually had to use a thin spacer because the tire rubbed the strut ,but only a little bit.I pulled the wheels and now have 16x8 Cobra r's up front.Personally,I like the 16x8's better, but it's all about what works best for you.

17x9 w/245/45/17 tires - it's close but it just fits.

That looks nice.My 17x9's stuck out a little further than that even before the spacers went on.

So do the 16X8s fit with no spacer and without sticking out?
