I need some experienced ebay advice... I made a big big mistake.  Recently I listed a fox Capri spoiler from an old RS that I've had sitting around.  Good news... it sold for about $50.  Bad news?  I somehow estimated the shipping at $30.  Actual shipping cost?  $90 - $200.  Any ideas what I can do?  I AM NOT paying to have this thing shipped.

Contact the guy who bought it,tell him that you made a mistake on shipping,and give him the option of paying more for shipping,or giving him a refund.

you just screwed yourself and have to suck it up.  on the positive side....  got any pics?  I may buy it off you at CJ if you dont go through with it.

Generally, UPS is the cheapest way to ship from here (Ohio) unless the box or the item is oversized. Then it's cheaper to go USPS. Just my observation.

Yeah, I dunno wtf I was thinking.  I listed it with $25.50 est shipping USPS and $35 for UPS.  UPS lady quoted me $90 because it's oversized.

I don't think the guy is going to want to pay the $90 for the shipping, so hopefully he'll agree to a full refund.  Ugh... every time I tell myself that I'm not listing anymore big items, I do.

Check with your local Greyhound Bus station. The buyer will have to agree to go to one to pick it up but the bumper cover I bought from a seller in MO didn't cost that much to get to FL that way....

I realized then that UPS is usually cheaper for such large boxes (the box is close to 60" tall and 15" by 15". But unfortunately UPS wanted nearly around $100 as well. That being said I can offer you a full refund plus 5% on top of your total cost (price + shipping) to cover the paypal fees on your end. That's the only alternative I have to paying the much higher-than-antited shipping costs. I'm hoping this unfortunate mishap doesn't sour your eBay experience. Let me know which course of action you'd like to take.

What MEGA-ULTRA-SUPER fvcking SUCKS is that I can give this guy a full refund and then some and he could ****ing still NEG me and poof, there goes my new found 100%.

If you offered a full refund I cant see him doing that...  If he does, he is a dick to begin with.

best thing is to quote him the EXACT shipping price, that way if he says ok, when it gets there he can see it in writing that it DID cost that much.... i had that issue with a set of mustang seats i shipped a few years back..... i quoted $30 and it was really $60.60... he reluctantly said ok to the extra $30.60, but i assured him that that was the actual figure and when he received it, he gave me positive and said it was ok.....  people hate so much when they think they are getting ripped off on shipping charges, and when you accidently lowball, they already know it should have been more......

or maybe the guy i sold them to was cool..... anyway, i always would rather bid on an item with a written shipping figure than one with a "contact  seller for shipping cost"..... 

AND if you DO give him a full refund and he leaves neg, that's easily disputable, especially if you save the emails and use paypal

I undercharged on shipping once.I THOUGHT I had estimated more than enough,and when i shipped the package,I ended up losing nearly $30.00 over and above the cost of the item itself and my shipping quote.I shipped it anyway,but now I flat rate everything and after today,I realize I'm going to have to raise my shipping prices.In the past two weeks,prices are notably higher.If the item is beyond my knowledge of shipping,I take it down to the old UPS Store and get an estimate,then add a few dollars on top of that as a "just in case".

I flat rate everything too, it helps to cover costs of packaging.  Turns out my $30 idea for the spoiler wouldn't even cover the boxes for it, let alone any padding or shipping.  I'm still waiting on a response from this guy.

It's the other way around. A buyer can leave negative feedback for sellers (for any reason they see fit - I've heard of such reasons as the seller used packing peanuts and the buyer had an irrational fear of packing peanuts - it was posted on the eBay forum) but sellers can no longer leave feedback for buyers. It's one of the big nails in eBay's coffin.

I have had ebay sellers do the same to me....  They offered me a refund, or to pay the difference.  I went for the refund.  I hope t he buyer is not a dick....

It is more and more common.  Just be straigh with the buyer and all will work out.

I never lose on shipping - I weigh and calculate shipping before I list, then add 1-2 lbs to the weight as a buffer.

I was going to ship some wheels UPS a while back. DHL shipping was HALF per wheel and they have an internet discount unlike UPS. No more UPS for me - they are a rip-off.

I would offer the refund or allow him to pay the actuall shipping as you did. When I sell on ebay I always put shipping as based on your zip. In my case I am self employed so I can go when I feel like it to get shipping quotes which can be a pain.
