Question: What kind of hood would you like to see a company make for our cars?
If you could have a company build a custom hood for our Tbirds/cougars what kind would it be?

or other, and state:
Do you have any pics of them? I know nothing about Stangs.
Thanks for the pics
Lets look and see.
I have always been a fan of the Cobra R (95) but I am not sure how that would look on a Fox cat..
Maybe a job for the PS threads???
Since they already make a cowl style and I wanted the "Stormin' Norman" hood (ram-air), I chose the later.
I want one BAD! I think it would look better than anything else. It looks like it would flow really good.
Like the 03-04 hoods too not sure about on our cars though
i dont think any one of those hoods would look right. simply due to the fact that it would have to flow well with our narrow lines on the header panel.

Works for me..
I think the 95 is the only one that would work with all the different engine, carb, EFI combos we all use. As long as the front was tapered to fit the header panel, it could widen and follow the lines of the flat stock hood without looking like a flat Chevy cowl was glued on. I have never liked the existing aftermarket cowl hoods as they don't seem to me to follow the lines of the stock hood at the back and tend to look like a ski jump.
I think the only one that *might* look good would be a heat-extractor style, but it would have to have very clean lines that matched our own. Our cars have very slippery lines and are supposed to look like they slice through the wind. This is also why I think body kits look py on our cars; they ruin the slippery look.
heh,

fixed?
I just see a red star 87TbBJ.
I could see the extractor hood, if the hood was still flat. But I know the vents would never clear my air filter housing.
Any idea how much those VFN hoods cost, and if they're streetable or race only?
My vote would be for one that isn't in your poll, a centered naca duct, like SVPU made for their 87-88, with either Cobra a distant second.
or.. what he said
i wish i voted 200 Cobra R since no one else did if it follwed the lines or our hood it might look good.
man I am actually surprised at the responses so far...
hmm....
If I could erase a hood from history it would be the '00 Cobra R hood. I hate that thing....
fixed big pic sry.

Oh, Thunderbolt.
Not for me.....
I think the ram air would look better on our earlier year cars, and the 95 R would be better on the 87-88s because the bodies are a bit more rounded on them.
A subtle 1.5" rise in the center section of the stock hood would be PERFECT. No scoops, no holes, just a vent into the cowl section. I'd even sell my US Body hood for one of those.
Won't know the shape of my hood until the plumbing is resolved, but that is
very close to what I'm expecting it to look like. A couple of vaguely triangular slivers shouldn't be too hard* to work into a fiberglass hood.
* famous last words
They are around $300. I have only seen them on race cars. No idea why they couldn't be for the street.
If they're race-only, then they're probably too flimsy to survive on a street-driven car.
Thanks for the $$ update.
They are pretty thin.

hahaha wait untill you see the hood on my vert{but it wont be seen untill cat jam] :flip:
I voted the 03-04 heat extractor i think it would look cool but now that i think of it it probably would not flow with the lines of our foxes.
I voted ram air. What I would really like though is a functioning shaker kit a la the 03-04 Mach 1 Mustang. I've always liked shaker scoops (that function ;) ) for some reason.
gimme some more time, man! :burnout:
I'm working on a Boss 351 hood (as in my 1WLD BRD rip-off thread). I like the Thunderbolt, but I'm an old car guy.:mullet:
Here go saleen heat extractor hood pics 94-98
cool, thanks kendo
Yeah, I like that now too. I can see that working, actually being beneficial as well as looking good.
