has anybody on here used chrome headers? how quickly do they turn all rainbow-colors? is there any way to slow or try to prevent that? my dad used to ride bikes and said he'd keep his chrome pipes chrome by spraying white header paint on the inside of the pipes, dunno if it'd work for cars tho.
ive never seen a set that never turned colors
you can pick up ceramic coated headers, that look chrome, and wont rust/change colors
My chrome BBKs rainbowed first time it was started, they've been almost black for about 4 years now... No rust though...
no rust yet? that's impressive, i've never had a set that weren't coated that didn't rust after about a year.
Go polished ceramic,i just bought a set off of ebay complete with gaskets and header bolts off of ebay for 148.00+shipping.
Guy called parts4u4less.
My chrome ones are still chrome , and they are a couple years old. The motor that they are on has been pounded at the strip too, so they have seen some heat. Just up around the has started to turn colours. Mine are the 1 5/8" Mac shorties.
he's asking about them changing colors, not colours :giggle:
Back off man.......just 'cause you Yankees can't spell doesn't mean we have to follow suit. ;)
:canada:
dam you all..., i wish i could spell and be in on the joke to :p
Thanks bro! :canada: :giggle:
Shawn....... :yuck: :flame: :tg: :D
And I made a mistake. My headers are from BBK not Mac, and they have changed COLOUR! :flip: Must have been from the couple times I buried the tach needle (past 7000rpm  )while I was pissed at it one day.
crazy canadians and adding extra letters!
GO BACK TO CANADIA! :p
i really love this board
Macs are good and so are the BBKs U have seen other brands change color alot sooner.
On side note i have a set of non chrome mac headers for a 302 stick in a fox.
cheap cheap cheap and u can get them chromed
