dose anyone know how hard it is to put new seals on valve covers and what do i have to take off to do it
Pull the upper intake, remove the 6 bolts from each valve cover, remove the valve covers, clean the mating surfaces of the valve covers and the heads really good, purchase new rubber valve cover gaskets, place them on the heads, place the valve covers on top of the gaskets, bolts them down (it doesn't take much to torque them down),re-install the upper intake, done.
is their a patern to bolt down the valve covers
I'm sure there is.I just start from the middle and work my way out.Snug them, then tighten them. There's only 6 per side.
oops.. I went with cork..:toilet:
The rubber ones are really nice, reuseable, and seal great with no sealer.
CORK SUCK
this is a simple job
best off throwing a thin bead of sealer on it to be safe
and watch wireing connectors and vacuum lines!!
Meh I've used cork Felpros with no leaks for years :mullet:
all ive ever used is cork.
rubber is nice, but cork to me is the only way to go
Is there any difference between Carb and EFI valve covers?
Yes,there's a difference in the covers, but the gaskets are the same.
Well.. I used the permatex gasket seal maker on both sides of the gasket. I guess time will tell.:D
