Talk about your impulse buys, saw this posted in the wee hours on TF. The guy delivered it this afternoon. Guess I'll start prepping the DD for some more weight on the ass-end.

i saw that you grabbed that. definitely a great buy at the price it was listed.
are you goin to lengthen it like you did with your first swap, or leave it?
lovin the IRS:burnout:
Definitely lenghten it. I've got the jig the guy made, so it should be a lot cheaper this time than last. Now that I know what needs to be done, it should be a breeze (haha, famous last words).
The first attempt at installing it, the cradle didn't fit quite right. Once the front arms are lengthened, it drops(?) in like Henry Ford himself came down and made it happen.
BTW, If you or anyone else wants to borrow* the jig, you're more than welcome to it.
* "borrow" = use and return
how so?
mine has the solid mounted rear ears, so i was antiting the fab work it took to get mine in.
The mounting tabs didn't fit quite right on the subframe rails. Once the fronts were extended, the rear tabs fit perfectly. I've read that the rear subframes on Mustangs aren't the best for mounting, but on mine, they were great..
Not sure about your experience, maybe it's because the frame rails might be different? :dunno:
That's just another reason I'd love to park yours next to mine and compare notes.
im ready when you are. where is west fork, trinity river?
Oh yeah, I may not have scored as well as I thought. He's selling a second IRS to the guy after me for $900. It's "built", bushings, level V half-shafts, 4.10 gears, the works. That's one hell of a consolation prize.
Fort Worth, Texas. Give me a little bit though, gotta get mine back together first, catch up with you. :D
