Hey guys, I wonder if you know whats up with this.
My blower motor only works on high. Low and Med dont do anything. This is the manual control, not the EATC.
I have replaced the blower resistors and the switch out of a car that had working innards.
Thanks!
Shawn
Well I would guess blower motor regulator. What resistors did you swap?
Your car that had working innards apparently didn't have a good blower resistor :D Could be a bad connection at the resistor plug, too
Hmmm, tahts a possibility, the car it came out of in an 84 elan, totally trashed and rats were living in the blower system, but I swear it worked on low... Ill go to pick and pull and try another resistor pack.
Thanks!
I swapped the resistors that screw into the plastic housing just behind the glove box. There are like 3 resistors in the unit.
actually, your problem is not the whole assembly with respect to the riesistors. The resistors are nothing more the wires wound to appear like coil springs.
The problem is the fuse.
There will be several large springs connected on either end and those will be the speed controls. There will be one other tiny little device that looks like a small mini capacitor with one end sort of pointed. This fuse will be attached on either end.
The part is easy to get to so just remove it (remove the glove box)
plug it back in while out of the HVAC box
jumper across the fuse
turn your key to accy only
opperate your blower speeds.
Once you know the fuse is bad, remove it and replace with a piece of 28awg wire or smaller. This will act as the new fuse.
Thats awesome!! Problem fixed. I did the 28 guage wire trick! Thanks again guys!
