Title: Changing gears from 3.08 to 3.73
Post by: Flyer on May 21, 2008, 10:42:19 PM
My car currently has a 3.08 traction loc and I have a set of 3.73 to put in it. Does anyone know from experience if I have to change the carrier or just the ring and pinion?. My car is a 302 fila thunderbird.
Thanks
Scott

Its a good idea to rebuild the trac-loc while your in there.  Oh, and I hope you love the smell of gear oil and friction modifier because it will be your new cologne.

3.08 trac lock?

Tow package.
Although I was unaware it was available in 84-85.

Traction lock. that's the code on the inside of the dash anyway. Even though there is no hitch and stuff.
Thanks for the info guys. Now I gotta get them installed.
