DA1 computer, best there is for a Speed Density H.O car from everyone that I've learned from,5 speed or Auto,it goes both ways.....$35.00 shipped in the lower 48..
Now one shows up after I convert to mass air :hick:
I JUST got it today !!!
If someone wants to do an H.O conversion,I can mail the computer,H.O cam,and a set of 19# injectors for $125.00 shipped. If I can find the H.O fuel pump I was using before I upgraded,I'll throw it in for free (it worked fine). The work can be done in an afternoon.
why would you need a SD computer?
burp.
Before I went to mass air I was looking for one to replace my Mark VII computer. Mass air was a better idea......

Tempting. Aren't there pinout differences between the SO and HO computers, though? This isn't something I can do by myself, so if I asked my mechanic to do it I would need DoD-grade, buttstuff-retentive, DETAILED instructions for him since I don't know anything about this (the things I do to my car are all around the electrical/interior stuff). Right now I have 19# injectors, SO computer, 65mm TB, and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator that he uses to get the mix right (don't ask me how, I have no idea).
Install the H.O cam,and install the computer, you already have the rest. The harness does NOT need to be modified.
So the pinout difference is for the mass-air computer only? What about firing order? Would I need to rearrange the plug wires on the distributor? Just for reference, I have an 87 5.0. Is a fuel pump change necessary, too? Pretend I don't know anything about engine upgrades. Piston-valve clearance?
Aha. I went into the CC main site and read the entry in the Tech section. You're right, it looks pretty straightforward. I'm not sure what my stock heads would mean, how badly they might restrict things, or my stock exhaust. Any thoughts?
I used E-6 heads for some time and the power upgrade was still VERY noticeable. The E-6 headed GT's were rated at 200 HP,more than you have now for sure.I installed an H.O cam,351W firing order, and kept my stock pump (upgraded a couple years later),and there were no issues.Dual exhaust would really help any engine. You can grab a set of E-7 heads from any 5.0 EFI Ford pickup and add about 20 or so horsepower over the E-6 heads. If you're installing the cam and all,you might as well add the heads.PTV clearance has never been an issue.I have an E303 cam, ported E-7 heads, and still have room in between the valves and pistons with flat tops. The H.O conversion can be done in an afternoon and will really surprise you.
The mystery deepens. The car was in the shop to fix the passenger window and because it's been running py. I asked about switching to an HO cam and computer, and they said that when I had the engine rebuilt they had put in a cam with more lift when they switched to 19# injectors (but the same computer). So now I don't know what I have...maybe 86 HO cam? I have no idea what cam choices are out there. They said the cam was matched to the injectors, and since they've been neighbors for 31 years I'm inclined to believe them. Now I'm kinda wondering what's in there.
Vinnie If I wasn't buying a 68 390 XR-G Cougar I would be buying this from u... But I lost interest in the 86 cougar.. but that is a good price u r offering I would recommend it.
What's your firing order?
I imagine it's the SO order since they said they didn't change the computer.
just out of curriosity, what makes the DA1 computer better(this is the one that i have)?
It's for auto or 5 speed, and I was told that the program is slightly more aggressive.
If you get a chance check it just for fun.
