with all the people on this board lately, mentioning that the MN12 birds lacks the "soul" that the Fox body birds do, It gave me an idea for a project. I have thought about doing this for a long time. I decide to add a bit of "fox body soul" to mine.... what do I mean by that? Well I will post pics of my new project I started yesterday... Tomorrow,:nannerbang: after work :shakeass: :ford:
yeah yeah I know.... TEASER thread!
Dont worry, I think it will be worth it.
Ron what did you do to that hood i sold you?????????
And possibly the body kit?????
It won't help ;)
How do you plan to drop half a tonne of weight? ;)
yeah whatever
You can't polish a turd.LOL.
:rollin:
This, from somebody with a car that has seven different colours....:flame: :flip: :hick: :toilet:

Seven different colors?I am insulted, the Sport only has 5 different colors.Geez.LOL.Nice hood.I didn't know what to expect.Maybe functional scoops? How did you get them to fit flush in the hood?
'Bout the only way you're gonna give an MN12 some Fox mojo would be to section about 6" out of its width, lengthen it by about a foot, and give it a stick rear end :hick:
That being said, if you're gonna go with TC hood scoops you should make it a real spiritual successor to the TC. The 2.3 would be too small for the MN12's girth - maybe a turbo-and-intercooled 3.8 (or 4.2) :D
Looks good! Are those another set of scoops you hand-crafted out of sheet metal??

I have NO intention of downgrading to the 3.8L when I am starting with a 5.0L.. I have been researching adding a power adder to this chassis though.
Nope, I figured out a cleaner way of making them... they are made from the hood... made 3 cuts, and left the front attached, then made the side pieces on my sheet metal brake, and tacked them in. Now I gotta finish the welding, then grind them smooth, and finish the metal work.:D
Looks pretty decent, want to see the finished product when she's painted and on the bird.
I guess the hood made it without using it's wings on the hwy strapped to the roof of the exploder.
haha, yeah but it was a scary ride home... I thought that cross wind was going to rip it right off the roof at one point...
It looks good. If you made them from scratch, why not taper them to match the lines of the MN-12 hood? I'll have to see what it looks like finished, but the angles are at odds enough that I think it would drive me crazy every time I looked at it.
Here is a close up of them almost complete. should have them Dang near done tomorrow.

The hood looks good, man
what did you use to cut it without distorting the metal?
lol, a Super Coupe it is not, but I will be interested to see the end result nonetheless.
the hood looks good the car looks good and together i bet it would look super nice.
I almost got me a MN12 bird for $500 to put my motor and old parts into found out the other day have a full custom interior and was black on the inside and the red paint job was still in good shape.
What color are you gonna paint the car?
Thanks, I used a cut off wheel on a 4.5" angle grinder
thats the point.... it isnt just another supercoupe clone. Even though I just bought a complete SC body kit, including the tail lights off of Dominator that I could put on. I decided to go a different route.
Thanks, I am planning a two tone (or possibly tri tone) paint scheme, but you will have to wait to see it, because I am still working out the colours (silver/blue, silver/red, orange pearl/metalic blue/black, etc) and layout of the paint scheme. It will definatley be unique....
well even if he used those scoops on a sc car there would be no room to close the hood. There is very little clearence under our SC hoods to start with.
yeah, actually I got thinking yesterday, and wondering if I even have the clearance for them on the 5.0L...
also turned the car into an "alien" car again... LOL.

I see the light oh well blue lights under sliver cars looks good i saw a T-Bird last night driving that was a MN12 with some rims on it and green underglow kinda of was shocked i don't think i had ever seen that car before.
I know some places in the US have a lot of laws on underglow kits what about where you live 1WLD BRD
nope, they aren't illegal in my town. Drove by a bunch of cops lastnight with them on and nobody did anything.
yea in RI, having under glows is illegal(only while in motion. Can use them when parked)
having any lights other then head lights, fog lights, tail lights yada yada is illegal(like those light up windsheild washer nozzles, neons in the car, anything that can be seen from another car, ESPECIALLY blue, white, and red.
If you have blue red or white under glow lights you can get charged with impersonating a police/rescue vehical ive been told
not sure if the cop wanted to scare us so we couldnt buy them, but he seemed serious
it can only be considered inpersonating a rescue vehicle if they are flashing... when is the last time you seen an emergency vehicle with just a blue light on, and not flashing?
and made a bad discovery today... I dont think the hood scoops will clear the rad support... Might have just wasted a decent hood...
that would suck balls!!
and yea, most kits come with the flashers. Idk laws around here are dumb as hell.
We used to not have many laws untill like a few 100s cars got them and then they cut down on it.
lately a few cars have it and because theres not 2 many with underglow the cops don't care most of the time.
Overall thats a really nice looking car keep up the work.
See...even the car itself realized it wasn't cool enough for any Fox-chassied soul....
:rollin:
Poor car. It will never be able to hang out with the cool kids. :(
Good, so it can keep you company now. :flame:
I do feel sorry for it...but I can't help. Unfortunately MY club is only for cars with spray-painted tires and bailing wire holding the tailpipes up.
I CANT SEE THE HOOD!!!!!!!!!!
You got me all excited then i see nothing!

Looks like it's time to cut into the rad support. I hear they're over-rated anyway.
Nova Scotia's laws state that no vehicle except police cars shall show a blue light in any direction, whether it's flashing or not. Even those little "blue dots" common on older cars are illegal. We're allowed amber flashing lights in any direction, flashing white lights as long as they only face forward, and flashing red lights as long as they only face backward. I've installed light bars on tow trucks with split filters on the rotating lights, so that the rear flashed red while the front flashed amber. Green lights, while common on tractor trailers and "promo" cars (cars decorated up with light bars and decals for radio stations, cell phone companies, etc) are not legal on any vehicle for some reason.
