Man I love those cars.  The beefy rear end is what turns me on about those rides. :shakeass:

Hey, I'm an old Torino man myself. Here's my 1969 Torino that I bought in 1978. I picked up my (now) wife for our very first date in it. 30 years later, I still have the 428CJ and still have the wife. Good luck in your search!

Yes, 7's and 8's

they were dual pattern aftermarket wheels

ford offered a similar wheel on these car but in 14"

I'm a fan of the '60s/70s Fairlanes & Torinos myself...

My 36 year old daughter and myself with my '69 Fairlane Cobra...
(yeah the pic is a bit out of date LOL)

BTW the car in the background is a '71-'72 Country Squire sta wgn (headed up I-64)

A more recent shot(in same field, trees and brush have overgrown hiding the I-state...

have no idea really in those pics it had a bone stock 351W with a 2brl and ran low 11's and high 10's 1/8th mile.

It was never a "race car" I drove it everyday everywere.I bought it when i was 13 and fixed it up from there.I owe everything i know to working on that car that and listening to my dad:D

And its probly the only car i had ever had that never had a set of slicks on it.

If your serious about locating it try here: http://www.torinocobra.com/

They have a registry and message board you can post the VIN... May not be able to buy it back, but there is a possibility finding it...

Oh wow man, if that isn't a blast from the past for ya! It's always good to hear when an owner can be reunited with a past love of the automotive variety.

Hope it all works out.  :)

Which AFIK is illegal for them to do so other than official business, but still happens fairly often...

Glad to hear you found it...

I know of a guy that several years ago, found a Mercury Cyclone in a field and none of the previous owners could be located, so he had a dealer buddy file repossession papers on the car...

Around here all you have to do is get the vin, go the police station and have it checked to see if it was stolen. If it wasn't then you can get an abandonment title if the owners can't be located by trying to call them or go to the house on the most current registration.

mav PLUS $500?

i know the Torino has sentimental value, but that maverick looks nice and the torino looks a little rough

how's the interior of the other car? You got a lot of time in the Mav, and the the outside of the other car is pretty rough looking.

500 on his end

he has about 2k worth of parts also

Sentiment aside, Torinos currently bring considerably more money than Mavericks. I am sure there are exceptions, but generally that's true. I would bet that will remain true for many years. If you get the Torino back, do you think a few hundred dollars now will matter 10 years from now? So, not only will it be worth more, the Torino will be YOUR car too. If you truly want YOUR car back, the only way you'll lose on the deal is if you end up selling it, again, in the future. It all hinges on if you'll keep the Torino or not. My $.02 worth.

I hope the $2k he invested is in sound shape somewhere in that car, because it sure wasn't put into the appearance. I'm all for All go and no show, but there comes a point, when it's your daily driver....

Show him pictures of the car, take out money for mileage and parts that need to get fixed and then tell him good luck selling it. He'll call you in a week with a real price.

X2... My 428CJ Fairlane is insured for $24,000...

A friend recently bought a nice original, 58K mi, '72 Maverick Grabber with 302 & 3 in the floor(4 speed not a option) for $3500...

With a little ....okay, A LOT of time and effort the Torino would look just as good as the Mav. Plus the Torino looks cooler.

Pics make it look alot rougher then it is really other the prep/reprime it need some small patches in the door bottoms. rest fo the car was and still is solid.Interior was never a good point in this car its got a decetn headliner, door panels and rear seat
