Will a 87 foxbody mustang clutch and brake assembly go into an 87 cougar?

Yes, thats actually what most people use when swapping to 5spd since the TC used a hydraulic clutch.

Is the mustang hydrulic or mechanical?

the mustang clutch set up is mechanical and as far as brakes depends how much of the assy your refering to.... im very sure there are writeups if your going from factory brakes to the 5.0 stang 11 inch brakes

the T-5 from an 87 mustang WILL swap...things you will need would be manual pedal hanger assy, clutch cable, clutch kit and flywheel, pilot bearing, other than that it should bolt in to existing cross member.  you would probably have to cut a hole in the trans tunnel for the shifter.

I doubt you would have to cut a hole in your floor if you already have a floor shift, i'm pretty sure that was standard with an 87 xr7...

Yes the auto trans has a floor shifter-so there is a factory opening.

I swapped my Cougar XR7 to a 5 5sp and yes you can wire up the
neutral safety switch. My car shifter was in the floor so it was simple. Get a switch from a manual Stang and tap out each connection and wire it accordingly.

Thanks-I will take a look at it when it gets here, waiting on the car owner to pull the trans out.I am guessing the auto and manual use the same wire color.
