Title: MN-12 5.0 computer question...
Post by: vinnietbird on May 16, 2008, 10:43:41 PM
An MN-12 Bird/Cat 5.0 H.O computer won't work in a Fox car with the same engine would it?I was wondering after I saw a couple at the salvage yard a week ago.

You could but not without repinning most of the connector. It's almost identical to the 94-95 Mustang ECM. I know cause I swapped one into my Bird. I do know of a couple of people on TCCoA who converted to a Fox Mustang A9L for the tuneability.

I was just curious. If they aren't really worth the time,I'll leave them alone.I was thinking for the re-sale value.I have an A9P in the Bird now,and an A9L on the way, along with a DA1 to sell.I also got a TC computer this evening. That'll be sold as well since I have a V8.Thanks for the info.

They're really not to be honest. lol A MAF 89-93 Mustang ECM is a much better choice for fox birds/cats/marks. :hick:

Aside from being able to run MAF, MN-12 ECMs are pretty useless for our cars and in general. The timing/fuel curves are pretty lazy as well. Lonnie Doll can tune most of them, but since the 94-95 Mustang ECM directly swaps in there's not much point in messing with them. That's why I swapped one in the 92 I had.

Here's a link to the pinout on those ECMs.

Thanks again.I was just thinking of money for the Sport.I'm down to a flywheel and a clutch kit for the 5 speed swap.I have everything else.I really don't look forward to doing the swap, but I look forward to driving the car afterwards.
