Title: Quad shock help
Post by: jpc647 on May 08, 2008, 11:01:12 AM
As far as using quad shocks, can the 7.5 rear ends have them? I have a parts car 1987 v8 with quad shocks and drum rear brakes. I was under the impression both the v6 and the v8 rear ends were the same. Is this true? I just read a thread about a member possibly giving up on an 8.8 swap and losing the possibility of quads.

Sport model (Vin code 61) 87-88 T-Birds and 87 Cougar XR7's had quad shocks with 7.5" rears (All 88 XR7's and some 88 Sports had 8.8" rears). Also, Turbo Coupe and XR7 models from 83-86 had 7.5" rears with quads.

You'll probably be better off if you can mount a vertical shock to the "front" of the axle, ie on the opposite side from the factory mount.
