Title: The crack must be good near Bible Hill, NS...

I was surfing Kijiji and found a nice 1984 5.0 Cougar for sale. The only problem is that the owner is on crack. See it for yourself:

$13,000 for a Cougar would be bad enough, but this one has incorrect dual exhaust and chrome wheels (normally I wouldn't care, but he advertises it as "completely original"). The leather seats look pretty worn and cracked up as well. And WTF is up with "All Lincoln options"? First, it ain't a Lincoln, and second, it looks pretty run-of-the-mill in the pen 15pit. Single power seat, no digital dash or vent windows, etc...

Oh, if I sound too negative I think I may have just broken my foot tripping over a cat on the stairs, so I'm kinda grumpy. Maybe tripping over a cat has got me mad at all felines including Cougars...

I emailed the owner, this was his story.

JPC,

Thanks for your inquiry.  Here is the tale.  When I bought it in Oak Harbor WA in 86 (2 yrs old) I was cleaning off the rotor button and distributor contacts.  I thought it would be better to replace the rotor button.  Couldn’t find such a creature to save my soul.  The guy at Hawleys Auto Parts got as curious as I was when we couldn’t find one  .  Said leave it to me for a couple of days.  Called me the next day and told me that a call was coming in from Ford in Lansing MI in a couple of hours.  On the speaker phone we were told that the electronics put in the car in Nov 83, were all the gear going into the 87 Lincoln Continental and as yet were still not available but they would send one out.  As of 87  all parts became available.  When the car was three years old they down loaded data from the computer and again when it was four.  At that time they replaced the EGR valve and reprogrammed the computer (or replaced it)and I have been driving it without problem ever since. (That’s only because it is only out of the garage in the summer.  That, my friend is the story as I know it and as it was told to me that day on the phone in Oak Harbor.    By the way , the Lincoln options I refer to are purely aesthetic and comfort oriented (ie: pillow back leather, power seats, premium sound system,  power antenna, functioning opera lights inside and out, cornering lights and so on)  The power train is not for the most part included in the electronics with the exception of the CFI and distributor.  Hope this answers your questions.  Thanks for your interest.  Bruce

I think its all a load af .
