hmmm
nice steering wheel in the vert capri
BTW, for all of you who promote purple power,,, this is the color you get when you use it in blue interior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They dont call it purple for nothing

I kind of like the car.I know a few people here who would like to have that steering wheel.
wow...not to rag on a rather rare car, but it's just another re-popped Mustang with a convertible-conversion company's badge on too many parts, with shiznitty-looking taillights..and this comes from a former owner of one.
But yeah...i'd drive it....like I stole it and didn't care about... hehehe
Nahh, it's a nice car, but the white and purple just plum ruins it for me.
Besides, it's a vert...I imagine it's like driving a bowl of jello down a gravel road at 75 with bad tie rod ends.
OK, ok, i'll quit bitching now. It's a nice car, but I don't want it ;)
Well considering the "cat's head" was used on the Capris as well, the wheel is not out of place...
C'mon Chuck... cat = Cougar. LIARS! IMPOSTERS! I'm calling fake.
It's not a fake,a capri is also considered a cat.
The tailights are authentic capri and look way better than rustang lights any day.
That car is dam clean and is all capri except for the rear seating arrangment in the interior,NICE PIECE!!!!!!!!

i dont think those rims belong on that car, at all :hick:
and every asc capri vert. i saw had the three spoke steering wheel not the one thats on it now.
That is a genuine Capri. The dead giveaway is the fenders and 1/4's.
Also, the reason for the 3-spoke wheel is because it didn't have cruise control. The cruise control cars got that steering wheel.
I dig the wheels.
holy , i want one of those.
these things worth decent money huh?
there was a BEAT up, RUN down ASC capri hatchback, with t tops near my house, and it sat there till about a month ago and it disapeared. I should have stopped and asked about it it was black and gold on tan. Was a cool little car that needed big time work.
seen that while i was looking for the one I bought.. I think the vert capris are butt-fack ugly, but that is just my opinion
People forget about my sarcasm?
I think everyone just needs to get used to ya again.
hahah Chris just doesnt know you Bri.:hick:
Yah, the Capris had all of the cat stuff too. They even had a red version of the Black Magic that was called the Crimson Cat. :hick:
I think these are pretty cool. I don't see why Mercury never made a notchback Capri.
This actually isn't a Capri, it's a Mexican Mustang. You can find these all day long in Mexico. It's basically a Mustang with a Capri front end and taillights.

i couldnt agree more,, the exterior is great until you get around back and the tail lights / lines seem like someones practiacal joke. The side profile looks great along with the wheels,, then you zoom in on the upright for the windshield and there is a huge gap in the body seam forward of those mirrors that just dont seem to fit right. Looks like that car got all the extra parts from days gone by including that high tech ford exp display showing you the image of the vehicle and lil lights that come on when there is a problem.
toss the interior, and maybe it would be a nice looking ride.
To boot,, that car is for sale among those in the background. It reaks of "todays garbage to throw out is....." The car just looks totally out of place among those classics.
All around opinon on the car is .,,,
The exterior is a 10 for its age and class
Wheels are real nice
interior sux assberries
motor,, hey,, its an HO with a light body so its gotta be decent.
My opinion,,, overall i give it a 6 / 10.
all those mexican capris are missing the best part...
fffffffffffffender ffffffffffffflares:bowdown:
all those Mexamustangs look good except this one:

Looks like a cavalier from the same era.... must be the rims and colour...
When these cars were new, there was a kid locally who ordered one. From what I was told, he had the only black/tan ASC McLaren Capri out of the ~40 made. I've never been able to verify that but it was a sweet machine.
Originals were BBS lacy rims. These OZ rims don't look bad though.
Also...I'm surprised nobody said anything but the mirrors were replaced with those from a Cougar. The originals were Mustang-spec convertible mirrors. Strange.
I think the lighting on the showroom has a lot to do with the tinted look of the interior. If there was a flash in the photos, the interior would probably look a lot more real-life. It's still blue FTW. ;)
Nothing a set of taillight covers couldn't fix. ;) In fact...IIRC the ASC cars *should* have had clear taillight covers. Not positive but I remember that being one of the highlights.
So when the ASC cars were converted over to their specs, they were given a slightly more raked windshield. There was a special machine that grabbed the panel above the windshield, right by the A-pillars, and just gave the metal a quick pull. Then ASC made these covers to go over the A-pillars and windshield header to, um, cover that up. ;) I kind of like the extra trim on top of the doors and rear quarters also. And the Mercedes-style top was always one of my favs too. As of a creation as the Car Craft Cougar is, though, the ASC McLaren is still goofier...
What's funny is that the hatchbacks did have flares, but they have a Mustang nose. :wtf:

EDIT- OOPS! I missed your prior post on the whole Mexi-Mustang thing..... my bad.
The steering wheel in that car is the optional one. The standard wheels did not have a provision for cruise control, so when cruise control was ordered, the normal Capri wheel was used, although it got wrapped in leather.
The standard steering wheel was the same wheel that came in a Mustang SVO except it had a different center pad that was embossed with "5.0 SC" on the convertibles and "ASC/McLaren" on the '84-'86 Coupes (hatchbacks).
'84-'86 Coupes came with the gound effects & covers as standard equipment, but it was an option on the convertibles.
ASC/McLaren convertibles, were available with a "Performance Decor Package" that included a ground effects package, floor mats, headlight & taillight covers.
The covers actually have a light smoke tint to them.
Here is a picture of a white convertible with the Performance Decor Package option, and the correct wheels.
The rear decklid spoiler was added by someone.
