Ok I am looking into buying a 85 Tbird. I am guessing it is 4 cyl. (havent gotten an answer back from them). They say it has a turbo so im sure its a 2.3.

An 85' Ford Thunderbird.Standard and has new tires, brakes, rotors, radiator, cluch cable, rear cover, water pump, plugs wires. All put in the last year or so. It has a 9.9 rear end in it, turbo. Runs rough may need a head gasket. Needs some TLC. Its white with gray leather intreior. If your intrested please email me..
Thank you.
Now I asked why they think the headgasket is bad and this is the response I got:
Well when you start the car it sounds like its sucking air, the car has alot of new parts in it, and as far as i know there is nothing else wrong with it, it just runs rough when you start it up.
Now I know nothing about the 2.3 does this sound like a major problem?? Should I stay away? I am getting pics this weekend so ill post them up when I get them... Any help would be apprecated. I have one cat so I might as well add a bird right???:birdsmily:
Chris, why aren't you taking the 70 cougar
Dont have the garage to work on it... Plus dont have the money or time to do it right... Plus if I get a older car its not going to be a 70 Cougar. Could be a nice car but again not enough to do the car right...
Changing a HG isn't that big a deal, the head has a nice grab handle at the top. Not sure about the diagnosis, but there's plenty of info on TF if you can't get it here.
My car sounded the same way when I ran it without a gasket at the upper/lower intake.
A head gasket shouldn't sound like it's sucking air. Maybe just a vacuum leak.
well we will see once i get some pics and see if its worth it or not...
You may want to jump on that one as most had 8.8 rear ends in them. LOL.
