So does a good floor jack even exist that does not go to shiznit in a year or so? Seems as everything is made in China these days and is junk. I would be willing to spend some money on a decent floor jack but I want it to last more than a year or two.
Yeah I hear ya on that. I love my dad's old 2 ton blue Sears jack. Its from about 1985 or so I think. A buddy has a new Craftsman floor jack, also 2-ton. It could fit INSIDE mine.
I'm sure theres good stuff out there, I just don't know any brands. If it were me in the same situation I'd be looking for old stuff, no joke! Old tools FTMFW.
I got a 6 ton craftsman. A year old and its still working good.
I just lifted the entire side of my car with it to test my SFCs.
I believe its got a 20 or 22'' lift.
go to harbor freight and get a 3 to 6 ton floor jack. I stored mine outside for a couple of years and it still works fine. Might have some problems with how low your car is though...
First time I used it, I jacked the front end of the car up high enough that the back bumper was touching the ground.
i agree, the 2 floor jacks i had purchased some years ago were complete junk, wouldnt have got them if i wasnt desperate. niether lasted more than 6 months before they started to sink(how safe is that) and as for the wheels, complete plastic junk.
my buddies uncle gave me one he had laying around that was about 20 years old. new fluid and works perfect, feels solid and rolls somewhat easily.
Best jack I've ever owned was a 2 ton Sears, probably the same one ZondaC12 is talking about. It's an old SOB, but still works great. I bought a 2ton craftsman a couple yrs. ago & I dont think it lasted a year. This is when I noticed that the hydraulic ram was stamped on the bottom MVP, the same junk advance auto sells for alot cheaper.
That's why I didn't get the 2 ton, I researched and found bad reviews for it, but great reviews for the one I got and it was only $60 on sale
I give this one a 2 thumbs up for its price

I picked up an AC Delco jack three years back as part of a jack and stand set. I think I paid maybe 40 bucks total and it suits me just fine, no problems. For most major repairs that require crawling under the car I use my heavy duty ATV jack - a craftsman.
I don't remember what kind Roger has...I bought it for him several years ago. I'll try to remember to ask him about it because it has lasted very well. It has lifted the car and the minivan with no problems.
I believe it's a 2-3 ton, but like I said, I don't remember right now.
I don't have a problem with any of mine and they are about 10years old. If you want a really good one find an old one that is used. They can rebuild the old and the new ones the older style just seem to be better built. I know at work we can send them to the warehouse and have them rebuilt.
Weve always used this 4000 pound jack, Dunno how old it is exactly... But it's a friggin' tank!

Love old tools... Everytime i come accross a tool my dad or grandpa didnt have, And need to buy~It never lives up to my expectations of quality... lol.
The shape of that one is JUST like mine actually. Maybe it's just that my friend's one had a really short reach and small wheels and a small cup that makes me leary of it. With the big cup I can put a 3-4 ish inch square block of wood in there to distribute the load so it doesn't crunch or bend whatever I'm lifting from and it kinda embeds itself in the soft wood so it stays put. As for the wheels, I like rolling it around not carrying it so smaller wheels get caught up on stuff. Romeo2k yours still does look like a tank tho. I guess all I've mentioned is just my ultra-laziness as usual and cords all over my garage floor that I cant just ya know bend over and move out of the way instead of rolling it over them :hick:
I aint proud of it!!!!
i have that same jack and it's a pos. i lost my 2 good 16 year old craftsmans in a fire. i went to sams club and bought a 3 1/2 ton rousch/goodyear jack for $89. works awesome and can't beat the price.
Owch...
Figured Craftsman would be decent.
Our "Tank" is made by pro-lift i think.
I looked up current pro-lift floor jacks and shucks/kragen/checker carries one separate or in a combo kit...
Anyone tried this one?

Looks kinda wimpy... But who knows, Maybe they still have some quality left, heh.
Mabe I got one of the only good ones
mabey :giggle: mine binds up real bad so i don't even use it.
Cool, something to look forward to. LOL
Bottle jacks,lift anything.
I've got my grandfather's old 2 ton Craftsman one as well. It's green, god knows how old, beat up looking, but it works like a champ. It's also HEAVY as hell. I can barely lift the thing. I think it's all steel, heavy guage steel.
Yeah exactly at least with this one it's almost unreasonable to pick it up at all. Eff. That!!!
LOL... I had to get my son to get mine out of the trunk when I bought it. I can barely move it around the garage. I must be getting old
