Hi everyone,
As usual, I'm working on ways to keep the itinerary semi-full for Cat Jam and would like to expound upon a proposed plan for Friday night (7/11).
We had talked last year about possibly doing a dinner thing with Angels for Animals at their rental hall next to their facility. I've checked into it and that night is open, so we could rent the hall easily. But that does not include the food...that would need to be catered. Angels recommends two caterers and I'll be calling them shortly to get their menus and pricing. It will probably be wedding reception-style buffet food (pasta, salad, etc.).
Bottom line: the total cost to rent the hall, utensils and food will probably fall into the $500-600 range. Last year we had about 50 people take the tour of Angels' facility on Friday night. If we get 30 people this year, I'll take that as a good sign. This would put the per-person dinner cost at around $10-15. Please note that there is no obligation to do this. Also, there is NO additional "profit" with this dinner...all money goes to cover costs and that is it. Our donations to Angels will come from the sale of shirts and registration money on Saturday.
I'd like to do this because the price, overall, is very competitive vs. local area restaurants. But this way we all get to sit together...it's all just for us, no other distractions. If you were there last year, you're already familiar with the drive there (and if you didn't attend in '07, it's really easy to get to, about 15 min. from the hotels). Parking also would not be an issue. We could take our time and not feel rushed. And of course, after dinner we would be welcome to see the animals again. (And as an added bonus: any leftover food could be taken home, or even reused on Saturday at the park).
So...what say you? Do you like the idea? Is that something that you think would be feasible for most people?
I would appreciate feedback ASAP so I can get rolling on it if needed. Thanks!
I'm in.
Sounds good to me.
It's a good plan.
Heck, I am in!
I do have a question though... the donations from CJ08... will they be going entirely to Angels for Animals? Or is the Shriner's Hospital for Children also included?
Not that it matters to this individual, both are a wonderful cause!
I am just curious.
Me thinks it is a splendid idea! :D
I would say yes, since we will want to see the animals as well. One thing I need to know first is, what time will need to be there?
im in.now would i need to pay for the kid as well or is that just for adults?eather way im in just want to add it to the buget
Time: I'm looking at around 7pm to be there. Like to make it earlier but I'd like to accommodate those that come into the hotels a little later.
Cost: I don't know about a kids cost...that's one thing I'm working on. It will all depend on how much the catering is. I will post the final costs when I've got all the info and have crunched the numbers.
Donations: We share all the proceeds on Saturday between at least 3 different organizations. Last year we did 4. But the Friday night dinner would have nothing to do with that. It's just a dinner for us, no strings attached.
sounds good to us.......o will there be  :drink: and :ies: :ies:
Count us in for friday night's event also !! :grinno: :grinno:
Sounds good. :D

7 pm should not be any problem. Count me and my Lady in!
The wife and I will be there for sure
Eric, It's been a couple of weeks since we last talked on here. May I ask if the dining hall meal is still on the agenda for Friday Evening?
Thanks,
Dan & Paula :poke:
OK everyone,
I've been pouring over the numbers, trying to figure out a way to make this fair...and I can't. It's simply going to be too much money, too much work, too many variables, and way too taxing on me.
So we're not going to do this on Friday night. Sorry if you got your hopes up.
Alternately we could still probably arrange for another tour of the Angels facility. If there's enough demand I'll make the call. Otherwise we could just do nothing and hang out at the hotel parking lot.
TOGA, TOGA, TOGA!!! :rollin:
No problem Eric. I know the financials weren't looking too hot and to be honest, the hanging out at the parking lot might just work out fine. After driving all day, relaxing could be in order for most.
Here's 2 votes for touring the Animal Shelter again this year :roxor:
im open to what ever is going on.parking lot sounds good.plant my a** after the drive sounds prity good.so eather way its cool
