New York has decided it's going to tax all internet sales including those of businesses who ship to NY and have no operations there!
OH JOY!!!
The fun starts June 1st........

If you thought l we were in a recession before (like me) just wait.
Great. That should throw yet another wrench into my Cheerios.
And Albany will probably get the money and i'll still have to pay a toll to leave the island that I live on
So the deal is U have the parts or stuff shipped to someone outside of NY and have them UPS it to u :S They can't tax u for someone upsing a item to u :S :S I guess this would be only good if u had a lot of stuff of course...
and the NY primary is over ,, correct? something does not add up.
This is why I know people and pay in cash so I don't have to pay the 8.75% sales tax for car parts :nkhk:
I'd like to see a real lawyer challenge that in court. I honestly believe they'd have a hell of a good shot at throwing that law out. The whole "restricting inter-state commerce" and "taxation without representation" comes in. Kind of hard for NY to collect money on stuff manufactured in Idaho.
Not really surprised considering this states desire to push out hard working folks and business and support delinquints and other unsavory folks looking for there monthly hand outs. Maybe they need to raise some money for our former and or present governor, neither seems all that bright. Hell this is the state thinking illegal imigrants needed to get drivers licenses. Like I needed another reason to dislike NY.
I hate to be a wet blanket, but everything bought from legitimate stores on the internet should have been taxed anyway.
Well, it's just as bad that they sent out over 90,000 letters to people who paid their state taxes, saying they couldn't prove they paid them and they want copies of ALL 2007 pay stubs, 2007 w-2, a letter from the company including a phone number for contacting someone and a copy of the SS card.
They claim a discrepancy between what was reported as paid and what was actually paid. So, great... we get to wait another few months for our return.
Luckily, Roger saves all of his pay stubs from each year so we have all of them... but how many people actually do that? I'm betting NY is hoping not many do, so they can refuse the refunds.
You're legally obligated in Alabama to pay a consumer use tax on any item purchased that didn't get taxed in the first place.
So if you buy a $100 widget at Amazon.com, you need to pay $4 (4%) in tax to Alabama because you bought it.
Explanation (http://"http://www.ador.alabama.gov/incometax/consumerusetax.htm")
I've never seen it enforced though.
No sales tax in NH - that applies to everything.
....and
ISSUES THEM those licenses! Yes, that started LONG before it was in the media's eye....
It's amazing how the "temporary visitor" status denoted on the license can expire in say 6 months, but the license will still be valid for
YEARS after that.
The same applies here, but it's nicer to do it in one shot at the end of the year when you have a return coming.......It gets lopped off the return amount and it can work out to be MUCH cheaper because it can be based on gross adjusted income....The problem -- as far as the state is concerned -- is it's near imposibleto enforceand most people do not know about it.
New York is ridiculous.....Check THIS out...

So every time I buy a 16 oz cup of coffee in the adjoining county to mine on my way home from work does that mean I owe my county of residence 1/4 of 1 cent?
...It could be worse.....ask Wesley Snipes: http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=311040>1=7701
You're a FReeper?
That explains a lot - lol!
MEH....yes and no. I actually think Bush has done a less than impressive job as president and that his predecessor was MUCH better, especially on the home front. Neither one had good policies as far as foreign policy is concerned IMHO.
Are they going to send me a bill if I sell something to a New Yorker?
+1 on interstate commerce trumping this.
To either the state you bought it in or the state you live in. Because most states charge sales tax.
Yeah this state sucks. I'd really like to get outta here when Im older.
speaking of presidents,,,
not too much to choose from this go around.
Lou Dobbs for president i say.
are you sure about that?
think again!
in the past five years i worked in four states..
2003-2004 New York $44000.00+ a year for 38-42 hours in 5 days a week..
early 2004 in massachusetts $29000.00 a year for 40 hours in a 5 day week
late 2004-early 2005 in rhode island $20800.00 a year for 40 hours in a 5 day week..
and jobless till 11/2005 refuse to work for free
moved to florida in 10/2005
in 11/2005 i started at hughes supply for $12.00 an hour= 24960.00 a year.for 40 hours in a 5 day week..
in two and a half years i got a total of an .85 cent raise.. .42 the first year and .43 the next year..
and can't leave the job.. i have had meny offers. but all the offers where for like $9.00 an hour to drive a 20 ton truck.. right! i'll pass which was offered to me about 30 times..
after the 10th time i started to be a wise a$$ and said your not hiring! they allways reply i just offered you a job! ok so whats the pay? about $9.00 an hour.. like i said your not hiring!
a lot of states are right to work.. some are listed as such and some are not.. untill you get there and they tell you so..
and the right to work laws are written where most people won't understand what the laws really mean..
what it really means is you don't have the right to work it's a privilege.. like getting your drivers licence..
especially in the deep south.. where labor is cheap.. i won't say what had bin quoted to me meny times .. in will get nasty..
anyway it cost me about $20000.00 a year to live here and everyone down here thinks it's cheaper to live here then NY. i laugh at that..
i make about $25000.00 a year after taxes and my part of the medical insurance i take home about $15000.00
if i could move back to NY tomorrow i would!
i would make about $52000.00+ minus taxes about $36000.00
and about $22000.00 a year to live = $14000.00 left for the year..
in florida thats!-$5000.00 not +$5000.00
you do the math!
don't do what i did and move because you pecker told you to do so.. the first move i made! or someone said it's better where they are.. the second move i made.. without doing the research..
i would rather sit in traffic ie NY and know that my bills are payed and have money left over of the things i like to do..
then have great weather and no traffic and know that could and i said "could" go anywhere or do anything i wanted if i only had money to do so!!!
my mom asks me sometimes why it seems like i'm not all with it..
i say well i'm so poor i can't even pay attention
so deal with it! you told me to move here!
that will be the last time she will ever tell me what to do!
if i ever take a trip back to NY it will to get my job back!
so don't jump to quick to leave NY unless you like working for FREE!
sorry about the rabbling again:(

It's about cost of living. What is your mortgage payment in Florida vs NY? What are your property taxes in each state?
haha glad you asked :rollin: in ny mortgage.. zero payed for.. florida zero payed for allso .. property taxes in ny when i sold my house in 2001 $4400.00 in florida right now $6300.00
lol cost of living? did you read my post ;)
Yeah I hear ya alright and probably I'll change later. I'm a car nut kid so my entire thought process is I wanna drive my cars all the time and spend all my nights standing in parking lots shooting the shiznit and I hate winter its depressing and boring and I hate being inside and I hate the politics of this state and the taxes and the bs that goes with that and the thruway tolls that were supposed to be eliminated YEARS AGO and theres so much &^*#ing traffic sometimes can't go 80 up the Northway and fireworks are illegal!!!!!!!
 yeah I'm focused on the important things in life thats for sure.
oh and if your next question is if i'm so poor how do i get the money to go to CAT JAM?
well thats because i'm conected :D thats to the Momfa and GrandMomfa;)
the funny thing is when i bring up that i have to move back to NY
they say i had to ask for money when i was there too.. ya! the amount i got from them while living in florida for the past 2 and a half years is over 4 times the amount easy from what i asked for in the past 20 years in NY
  :rollin:
haha tolls? and you don't thing other states do the same? if you get on the turnpike it's .25 cents and if you want to get off at the next exit which is about 4 miles away it's another .50 cents lol try going the whole 300+ miles to the last exit.. alot of countys down here are in florida are trying to get a law pasted that if you
call the fire department or an ambulance you would have to pay a fee.. and just like rhode island if you get a fine ie tickit or had a police report made for or against you guilty or not.. you have to pay the court costs.. and if you licence is out of date meaning wrong address or whatever. it's a felony.one thing that was changed this year that i thought was insane..you only need florida required insurance which ment you had to pay insurance an amount just to have the right to register a car about $900.00 for 6 months and covers nothing
in other words if you had an accident and someone got carted away in an ambulance your licence would be suspended untill the case was closed ie right or wrong and or any lawsutes.. and if you had an accident and someone died you go right to jail! untill the same i stated above
need i go on?
NY -- property taxes after STAR and military discounts.....$6600 for 2008.
Tolls are bad everywhere. Google "private toll roads"
You'll see how bad it can be down south and out west.
Well all I'm going by is the fact that my mom rants about it all the time and they jack em up every year, and apparently it was well-publicized back when I was too little to know anything other than looney tunes that they would be extinct in a few short years or something. Oh well. I'm almost never on the toll roads so technically I shouldnt bitch and complain but ya know its the principle.
Yeah, they want to toll existing roads in Texas because previous tax money gathered for upkeep and expansion was already spent. Then let a private firm run the tolling operation.
Idiots.
Well, Amazon made the lawsuit rumors official...
