Title: 65mm TB/Gutted Upper
Post by: tc² on April 22, 2008, 11:44:30 AM
Just made a deal with 88cat :shakeass: .  How much HP gain should I expect?

The TB won't gain you any increases, just different throttle response.  The gutted upper "should" improve your top end with some loss to low end.  You will need to do something with the lower if you plan on using it.

I didn't like mine.... but that's just me.

Will I need to port it or something?

At the very least smooth the transition.  It won't be too happy running into the face of the lower.

I went from a stock throttle body with 2 1/2" pipe from the intercooler to a 65mm Throttle body with 3" pipe. The gain was absolutely ZERO in performance. (as measured with 1/4 mile MPH)

Both where with my gutted / rotated upper, and of course the upper was ported to match the 65mm TB. T obe honest, I never detected that improvement in "response" other report either.

I always run gutted intakes so I have no comparative data on that.
