Title: Wow, how things have changed...
Post by: Thunder Chicken on March 29, 2008, 10:05:05 PM
I just had a guy ask me if my sequencer will work in his '64 Comet. I told him I don't have any diagrams for cars that old, so he sent me one. The diagram below is quite remarkable because it is for the complete lighting/horn/instrumentation system, all on one page. It's hard to believe how simple it is compared to our cars (cripes, just the instrument cluster system in an 85-88 Fox would be more complicated than this whole car). Then consider how simple OUR cars are compared to a new 2008 car... and much of it is complexity simply for the sake of being complex (computer controlled headlights, horns being activated by body control modules, "smart" clusters, etc)

Yes ;) His car doesn't have backup lights (apparently they were optional in '64) so the spot in the tail light housing for the backup light is an empty space. His tail light lenses are all red, which gives him three per side (counting the two current, stock, bulb locations and the dummy backup light locations)

Ahh, the good old days. Similar to the schematic on my T-Bucket - you gotta love simplicity :D

I'm still lovin' my sequencers.I would change one thing about the kit,and one thing only.Include a pair of 3 wire plugs so that on the inner-most light,it doesn't have to be hard wired in,and you can disconnect it without having to remove the socket which is screwed into the taillight housing.I got two plugs from a couple of different 3.0 GM cars for that purpose.makes removing the taillights much easier.BUT,I still love them. You rock Carm !!!

All that wiring in a new car sure adds a lot of weight.  I'm hoping mine will weigh half that much.
