Hey Guys, im new to Fox Tbird Cougar Forums but not to the community, ive been over at NATO for 2 years now since i got my TC.Well Heres my Story,
I'm a 18 Year old Kid from Upstate Western New York Area, still in high school taking the Auto Program at BOCES, and going into the Ford ASSET Program in the fall. I got my Turbo Coupe 2 years ago from the Paper for $650. I know everyones thinking New York = Rot, but this car is from California, and started Life in Hawaii, according to CarFax. The Guy who owned in before me brought it here from california, drove it for a number of years, then parked it in 95. So Fast Forwarding to about 2005-2006, i was looking for a mustang, as is probaly alot of kids my age, couldnt find one cheap, so my dad suggested looking for a Thunderbird, reminding me of the 88 3.8 we once had. I said yea, those are cool. So searching the Newspaper i Found my 84 Turbo Coupe. Didnt know what they were, and kind of knew what they looked like. Called the Guy up, and went and looked at it, and got this:

my dad looks at me and asks me the question " You Want it?" i asked him if it was worth it, he said hell ya.
The car was kind of screwed up from a tried to 5.0 conversion, but it had alot of potential with the orignal 2.3 and t5 coming with it. so we got the guy down from 900 to 650. and trailored it home.

Over the Course of the last 2 years, ive gotten the T5 Rebuilt, New Tie Rod ends, painted the engine bay, regasketed the motor, Pro 5.0 Shifter installed, spent numerous amounts of time at the S Yards looking for Bellhousings, headlight covers, fenders ETC. Put 500 dollars worth of Auto Meter C2 Gauges in it. Just for a fun little Street car, I think i one the deal on this car, the guy thought the motor had a knock and it turned out it was massive amounts of carbon on the pistons.
So im just looking to redo the body eventually, and i will have a pretty nice commuter, and woman chaser car.
I have to thank alot of people from Nato And here for the Tech Articles and the phone calls just to get my car done, Ive never met a nicer groupe of people, and ive been to many carshows, and im a tire carrier for a hooters pro cup team.
I hope i can help just a small amount that you guys have,
Heres a few pictures of where my cars at right now, getting ready to be put on the road for the first time in 13 years.

It's not as bad as it looks.I took Eric's advice on which fasteners to remove, and had my heater core changed in less than hour, and I took my time.
Looks like it's going to be a sweet ride! Just needs something..a hood! lol jk!( i saw it in the first pics) Go Cowl induction ;)
Welcome aboard!
YES another 84 turbo coupe. the car is looking good. welcome and have a nice stay.
Nice bird. Welcome. It's looks like you've got something worth hanging on to.
all in all i had about 4 hours into the heater core today, but i had some other wiring issues to address. plus i made my shiftball fit today and i messed up my instrument panel just now taking glass cleaner to it. live n learn i guess.
as for the hood, that one was so rotted out its laying in the s pile behind my house, gonna get a 87-88 tc hood for it.
heres my shiftball i made work today, it has some history to me, as it was out of my dads old dwarf car we used to race up in canada, we picked the number 9 because our car was #9 and it was yellow and white.
that car meant alot to me, and made me were i am i nthe hooters pro cup series, so i figured id put it to good use in the turbo coupe, plus it looks badass behind my gauges.

Nice work keep it up you will enjoy it ! Trust me it is worht the trouble.
well i got her on the road about a month and a half ago, got about 1500 miles on her without any major trouble. shes my daily driver and im so glad shes reliable. i had a wire come off the coil do to a bad splice and that killed her for about a half hour but other then that shes been trouble free.
I also bought a new grille. it definatly needed it. but i still need a hood and right front fender, and a paint job lol. thank god i finally graduated from school. now i can finally start making good money as a technician at the local ford dealership.
heres a pic of it at the last day of school!

Too bad you're not closer to the midwest, I could hook you up with an 87/88 TC hood. Your car is looking good, keep up the great work!!
You still can Mike, he doesn't live that far from me.
I may also have a fender.
I've got a TC hood, a couple small dings on it, $20 if you pick it up in Grand Island, NY
Sorry, don't have a fender for your year car.
The L-88 hood scoop belongs on a Chevy.Other than that, cool car.
ya i hate that hood scoop. the body work was so poorly done, im going to be having some fun over the winter,
plus the scoop is like broke at the rivits and its pulling up and just looks like hell
Thanks for the comment guys!

if you have any pictures of the hood that would be awesome!

They both have 2 very small dings. your repainting anyway, so filling them wouldn't be a problem
$20 a piece. take 2 there small. LOL
PM me if you want one
New look to the bird thanks to Daminc,(Jerry). Picked the hood up this morning, had it in primer, along with my headlight buckets. Looks a million times better!
Thanks Jerry!

about 6 months ago i came up with this half A** computer rendering.

while the paint isn't show quality, i didnt want it to be, its my daily driver, theres a few screw ups, but for just paying for materials, and gettign the learning experience, im very happy.
the Colors:
General Motors Black
1984 Ford Thunderbird Medium Red metallic.
Dupli- Color Gold Spray Can for the diving stripe.
All in Base Clear.
The car looks great man. Definitely something to be proud of. I'm sure it turns a lot of heads now. Have fun with it!
Looks good.
Nice,
That hood has got a lot of stories to tell
Looks great :D
Not that I'm partial to tue-tone or anything ;)
Sweet bird man!!!!
Looks good! Nice work!
That car really looks good!! For your bright gauges, go to radio shack and get the assortment of potentiometers. It will make driving alot easier at night. And I only had 2 of those gauges, rofl
Your Bird looks great! Good job man!! I like the two tone myself for some reason. Take care of it and enjoy it.
