Powder coat the wheels

The Maybe add a Saleen Spoiler Will happen sooner or later after the cars is paided off.

"Might" paint the bottom a bright red and use white letters under the trim line for the after market parts on it.

I allready had a blue and white 2 tone so its time for red and white.

This car is less than 1/2 mile away form my house and i have never met the owner till a few days ago Also the TC hood will look nicer on the Cougar i think along with the spoiler off my old T-Bird.

Overall when i do a few more mods to the T-Bird andget the cougar bulit i will have 2 super nice cars.

:birdsmily: and :cougarsmily: What else more could i want?

OMG!!! I dont know what looks worse-That Saleen wing on that Tbird or the fake brakes on that Mustang!!!! I always say-just because you add something to your car doesn't make it better. Some things are better left alone. Once again just my crazy opinion and sorry to the owner(s) of the Tbird and mustang.

What do you drive just asking? i have seen many many cars i have seen much worse but i got the money and will get in the car in less than a week i did not even think i would of had a another T-Bird this year or maybe even next. So its time to BS around and think things over before i mod it and i got a loan for 18 months so don't worry i don't got the cash or time to mess up this car anytime soon.

This car looks super nice just needs a little TLC and a car wash and i would say its in the top 1% of any 87-88 T-Birds that are fixed up DD cars.

Hey Pimp I didn't mean to bust your chops-I LOVE Turbo Coupes (I'm on my 6th one) I just feel you dont have to do too much to these cars to have them looking good. I personally think that silver bird with the saleen tail would look so much better without it. Once again just my opinion. Heres a pic of my Bird from last summer-thats also my mustang in my sig.

For the love of God DO NOT put a Saleen spoiler on it, DO NOT two-tone it. Do PERFORMANCE mods, NO VISUAL. IF you get a Cougar also, only PERFORMANCE mods. You had fun rattle canning the Aerobird GT. For the sake and dignity of the cars please dont paint them.

That Mustang just makes me want to talk like a Hick....something to the effect of: "Put that there Detroit E-Locker in my Lawn mower, slapped a Muncie SuperCharger backed by a four speed, sumbitch will do 10.2 in the 1/4 by God I tell you what"

Thanks bro- I'll try and put up some pics of my other coupes I've owned. Too bad in the late eighties early nineties they didnt have digital camera's yet because I would have taken a lot more pics. Maybe somebody on here knows where one of them is.

The fact is the cougar is getting a 2 tone paint job ASAP after i get the paint is so close to rusting.

The T-Bird all i may do is Redo the pin striping either RED or BLUE But the wheels are nice and just need to get powdercoated white later on.

Nice Black TC looks good and i bet the other 5 you had looked nice as well.

Don't worry i gotta take like 20-50 pics of this car inside and out so if anything happens to it i can prove it was a nice car plus i have to make a new Cardomain site.

The cougar 1988 RED faded XR7 Specs for now + all my old AEROBIRD GT parts will also go on that car and the Vortech SC i got laying around.

8.8 with new moser Axles and 3.27 gears

5 lug with 3 spoke rims good tires but will be replaced after i have a little fun with them also has newer upgraded mustang brakes.

Q1A K-Member summit says its -28lbs over stock

Side impacts cut out of both doors said to weigh in at about -50lbs

Also getting a extra TC hood with buying the 88 T-bird and useing my old spoiler off my T-bird on the XR7.

Will be a custom 2 tone paint job at the Factory line and will have every last saveable part form the AEROBIRD-GT.

The car is 45miles away did not take any pics yet sorry. :cougarsmily:

Can i name it the AEROCAT-GT? or AEROCAT-XR7?

Very very bad idea if you're going to drive the car on the street. Those side impact door beams are there for a reason. They... um... protect against side impact. They also contribute to the car's crash structure - without 'em your wrecked '87 would likely have folded like an accordion. With you folding along with it.

So by doing so you gain what? It's 10 horsepower per 100lbs so with 50lbs less that would be 5 extra ponies... So you're going to make your car that much faster at the expense you're safety and possibly your life or the poor  that happens to be sitting in the passenger seat. :nono:

BTW that would also be one hell of lawsuit if you're passenger was injured/killed.

Dont let anyone change your mind about "painting" your car.  If it makes you happy go for it.  You can always change it back or to something different later if you want.

For what its worth, I didnt care much for the color scheme on your last car.  But its all part of your journey, not mine  ;)

A friend of mine in highschool had a mid 80's toyota pickup that he liked to spraypaint. It had neon green racing stripes along with the grille on a dark blue body. Then it had neon orange racing stripes with the grille painted the same. Everyone made fun of him but he never cared. He liked it. He also liked loading the interior up with cheap tweeters that sounded terrible. Some people just have no taste. Have you ever seen someone do a "mile long" burnout? This guy held the brakes just enough to let the car roll while doing a brakestand and continued on like that for around a mile. He thought he was soo cool and made sure everyone knew that his car could smoke the tires for a whole mile.

Repaint the stripe in the trim red to match the pin stripes up top and LEAVE IT ALONE!!
Then get a set of 5 lug wheels with center caps (mark 7 bbs wheels would prob look good) or make a custom center cap on all four wheels.
Add your console and floor shift from your bird, because the XR7 should have a console and floor shift, so use it in this bird. Plus your buttstuffog gauges, and senders. All that should already be in the xr7 so will make nice additions to the bird!!
And u should get a turbo coupe header panel for it, and the lights. (I have a set of turbo coupe lights I can finish polishing and sell you)

Sorry i got Pics of one and added the Mustang picture because it just looks nice.

That's just rice.  There's no other way of putting it.  The Saleen wing on the T-Bird is also questionable at best.  It could work with the right body color, quite a bit of lowering and the right wheels.  Other than having some really professional aero parts made for the car, there is very little available for a T-Bird that will make it look better, just the right wheels, which yours seems to have.  Most "visual mods" just look tacky, the market just isn't there for some nice aesthetic parts to be made.  Those wheels look better than most on that car.  It's always better to take the modest route on visual modifications unless you have the eye of a design student.

That paint job looked good on that car,the Vette. It reminds me of the old Greenwood Vettes back in the late 60's early 70's.Our cars are really picky about colors and designs (meaning stripes, etc).Almost anything will work on a Stang, but our cars are a little more,um,"cultured" if you will, and what may look great on a ricer or Stang just looks terrible on our cars.

About the new Bird,Pimp.Nice score.great looking car.I don't care for the exhaust tips (I'm real finicky about those). It's also awesome the Mass Air and H.O swap have already been done for you.Two thumbs up.Before you make any decisions for the car,you need to get a public vote here, and then,do what we all advise.Yes,it's your car,but that doesn't matter. We'll make all the decisions for you......except Mason. He's already talking stripes. His thinking rights will be revoked pending an investigation..LOL.

The little stripe in the stock trim!! it looks weird chrome, should be red like the turbo coupe trim to match the pin strips and interior, cause other wise the cars gonna get GIANT red stripes.

I see mark vii front rotors and big holes drilled in the centercaps tisk/tisk.
Leave it white, paint the rims white, remove the red stripe, restripe the crome white in the trim mouldings, get a tc header panel and a set of sn95 front spindles and call it a day.
Don't twotone the dam thing, what's with you and that anyways???

Take those decals off! looks better now. Im starting to like those rims. Mark hubs are just throwin it all off though. what is with you and two-tones?  TC header panel would look really good. drop it , TC bumper. painting the rims white would look good i agree.

the Plate holder is black the paint it a little messed up all around the bottom the trim is black. the TC nose would clean up the white topside of this car and the Pin STRIPES are Orange and cover over the stock red pinstriping.

The cougar factory 2 tone line looks  good the T-Birds i like it 2 tone at the trim line or just under it.

if i don't get a TC nose i will get hood pins with wires wrapped around the grill again and when i get this car cleaned up then we can vote on the saleen wing.

I have to pay off the car its not mine and i have not put anything except a car wash into it so i have to respect him for making this car a nice car so far and saving me lots of Work and money.

Yeah that car's begging for a TC header panel, and slimline fog lights in the air dam (just keep your stock air dam, too much of a PITA to swap it, and as long as you get the right fog lights it will look great. Get a stock TC headlight panel that has room for the fog light switch, add autolamp and auto-dim if it doesn't already have them, and call it a day. It will look slick without looking tacky.

I know that finding fog lights that fit in there is a real pain. That's one category that I think deserves to have its own sticky. I have Pilot PL-220's in mine but you can't get them anymore.

I don't like the wheels, but that's simply because I don't like Pony wheels on a Bird, Birds are too sharp for that. It's a Bird, not a kid's car. Let me put it this way: you can get out of a bird at an upscale joint dressed up and the whole package works, but it looks tacky with a Pony car (just my opinion, and by "dressed up" I mean double-breasted suit, not your best pair of jeans :hick: )

As stated before the mark vii will either not allow you to use the center caps on most wheels or not allow you to use the wheel at all without 1/2" spacers or sever mods to the rotor hat(believe me i know i did it once just to say it could be done) fr500's or anything with a smal center cap(approx 2 1/2") will not fit the rotor due to the hat lip being to tall.
Better and easier just to go sn95, with the sn stuff you can also later upgrade to bigger cobra brakes if wanted.
Oh speaking of respect for the guy that built it,you bring up a good point.

I did my own thing last time and to think what you say could stop me yeah right. Whatever mods get done to the car will be for some reason or many reasons. Some of us take risks others of us don't but thats life. This is why i like these cars after you save them form rust i think you should be able to fix them up and make them nice Ford gave us a few nice things but for the most part these cars stpen 15 are not that fun and custom is the way to go.

Well he's just really extreme and so people don't like that. He doesn't go along with the conventional ideas of custom auto designs. The way I see it is just as he has just described it. It's NOT rusting away in a syard, and it's NOT in the hands of some punk-ass loser who wishes he/she had a MAD TYTE JDM and instead has this due to inheritance or something like that. He'll nurse and care for it like the rest of us do, through good and bad. It might look wacky but it will be in GOOD shape and running and wild in the streets (ahem ahem ;) ) like it should be.

Got a Optima RED top battery for dealer cost plus a free Battery box got the column shifter adjusted and a new spring for the E-Brake and ording the 3.73 speedo gear tomorrow.

Also got to get a new belt for the car soon adding my old flex fan on to the car and a oil change and voltage gauge next week.

Don't really like the kenwood CD player so i might get a new pioneer deck and sell the kenwood for a few extra dollars.

Car needs a little bit of touch up paint has 1 dent on the hood and the passanger side door has a lot and lot of small dents but you can't see them unless your a few feet away.

That and you're supposed to stop at crosswalks if someone so much as lays a toe near it from the sidewalk. Nobody so much as moves their foot off the right pedal. Once I'm 20 feet from one I slow to an effin crawl, and I walk out into the crosswalks in front of cars all the time. If their window is down and I'm having a bad day I might even flip out on em. If it was not for me there would be NO T-birds or Cougars that where fixed up and driven almost everyday. Would you rather have a few nice cars in a big city driving around or all Mustangs? Also i am sick of you guys talking  i have seen most of your cars some are nice and some need TLC and some need motivation to keep working on there cars and not sell them or just go buy a new car.

I do what i have to 2 make nice cars that are fords and not mustangs so some of the world can see a different set of tail lights every now and then.

This is a public message forum. You have to expect to get good comments as well as bad ones.
You have all the freedom in the world to modify your Thunderbird or Cougar exactly how you want it, which is a good thing. We all take that freedom for granted, I think.
However, if you're sick of the negative comments you read in your threads, maybe you shouldn't post up your plans.
Like many people here, I try my best to find these cars and save them from the junkyard. Sometimes it's easy, but it's often a very difficult task. We support that 100%. Customization, on the other hand, is one of those eye-of-the-beholder things.
If you're happy with it, that's great; it's all that matters.

Hmmm.  I dont seem to remember you owning ALL the nice cougars/Thunderbirds. And mine is nice, and Ive daily driven it for about 5 years now.

My OPINION is that you can mod all you want to your hearts content, but if it ends up looking like it came out of a circus freak show, and you post pictures here, expect negative comments.  If you can't handle it, then dont post pics or descriptions when you (in my opinion) screw it up.

Yes, I am a purist to a certain extent.  I apologize if your skin isn't thick enough to take the occasional barb.  People don't like my car, well thats their opinion, ans that is that.  I really hate seeing a decent Thunderbird or Cougar (again in my opinion) riced or screwed up.

if you don't like it, Tough.

Have a good one, and good luck.

If people don't customize their cars then if i gotta sit and eat somewhere looking out and the streets i got ADD and i get sleepy the custom car world is not always nice but at least you don't own a car than anyone else could just go buy of a lot.

Your taste is different than mine, that's for sure.We do have the cars in common though.I'd actually rather see your red, white, and blue car (although, again, not my "flavor"),than you driving a Chevy or ricer. You have to follow your own vision.I'm doing my car my way.I have notes, drawings, design formats, and ideas in a book for the sport. It's all about me.The way it should be with your car.Sometimes,we open ourselves up to some wicked criticism, but, that's part of the "game".take what you like and leave the rest. There's no need to argue or fight over these things. It's about the cars, and doing what we do.If you hear things you don't care for, keep moving forward and ignore the negative stuff.A lot of the "critics" here (including myself) are just trying to pass on ideas, and try to help you end up with the best car possible. In the end,it's a matter of PERSONAL taste.....what YOU like for YOUR car.Sure,a lot of us wouldn't do it your way.On the other hand, when I'm finished with the sport, you may see it as boring. As I stated,it's all about what YOU like on your car.Enjoy it,keep posting your ideas (even if we beat you for it...LOL),and keep the pics of the progress coming.

you do realize you put the battery on the wrong side to get any real benifit out of putting it in the trunk right?  clean looking install though....

and a "b-cam" ....  doesnt mean your car is fast....  and if the rest of the motor isnt built to take advantage of it...  it is actually LESS powerful then the stock cam.  that is like the kid in the honda thinking he gained 40hp with the fart cannon and decals......

I know sorry tc nose was a good idea and theres a few nice ideas coming out of the posts. Also birman thanks for saying sorry and vinne i know your right 99% of the time and cougarcragar is right 2.

If people don't customize their cars then if i gotta sit and eat somewhere looking out and the streets i got ADD and i get sleepy the custom car world is not always nice but at least you don't own a car than anyone else could just go buy of a lot.

may take a few more pics dash mats making me mad but oh well.

Unreadable.

Your threads are like Pl@yboy . You only look at it for the pictures.

I don't mind what you do to your car, I just can't afford the brain power it takes to decipher your posts.  Good luck with your car though.

Ok i got it more pics less typing i got the battery box free and the optima red top for dealer cost and its a clean install so i can't B**** about it. The vinyls are just there to get a few places some new customers pay back those who help you or do good work and don't take all your money.

May add a few gauges next week in the empty slot above the cd player and change out the kenwood for a pioneer. Get a new belt and oil change and put on my old flex fan. Last i can't find my orange LED pods there lost in my room and i got the drivers side inner marker so should i superglue it back on or what might work better?

Also next year buying a top end kit for the car Heads,Cam, and Intake when its paided off just for the hell of it car runs good but the trans is bulit up for a lot more power.

Aren't you going to use the intake from the wrecked Bird? Also the cam?As far as the light assembly goes.I use a clear epoxy for outdoor use that is also weatherproof.I got it at Autozone for a few bucks.Sorry,I can't remember the exact one.I mixed it up and used just enough to make a little bead around the light housing, then, installed the lens, taped it down to keep it snug and still, and left it alone til the next day when i put the light on the car. Before I installed the lens,I also sanded the areas to have the adhesive so the epoxy would hold better. One step at a time.

Dude, nice car
where did all those dents come from? Looks like it was target practice for SUV doors in a parking lot

as far as your car goes, You can do whatever you want to it. doesn't bother me. I'll just joke sometimes, but it really doesn't mean anything.

all my old T-bird parts go to the Cougar XR7 but the cold air kit got wrapped up in the fender so i gotta order 2 more UPR cold air kits there only like $99 each right now and they work great. They used to be $140 each so at least they dropped in price heres a picture of my old one.

The car looks good. The rotors need changed and that center cap fixed. I like the car as is. I didnt like your old car at all. I see nothing promising for this car if you have the same type of plans in mind. Put some actual tips on it, beef up the engine alittle and keep the car as is.

You just posted about buying windshield wipers, and cheapo gauges. That was really a waste. To me you sound like every ricer on this planet, you go to Autozone, Advance Auto and O'Reillys and buy all of the shiznit you can and slap it on your car. Silverstars I can understand. Overloading with gauges and wierd pointless LEDs everywhere. Whats next fender vents? I bid you good luck and I will be praying for this car.

Just enjoy the car,and do what you like with it.You paid for it,it's yours.I saw videos on Youtube of some of these cars being totally violated.I told you before, your tastes are totally different than mine, and you would change things,or add things I never would,BUT,I can respect that.Do what you like and and make the car what you want it to be.If you need help, let me know.I will say to everyone,as much as most of our tastes differ from 'Pimps,we all have to show respect for what he's doing.Nobody has to personally like everything he,or anyone else does,BUT,he's here, and he's devoted to keeping this car going.Props for that.We all have our own tastes. It's all good,we all have to stick together.

Personally I don't fault anything you did to that old car except the paint job. I do take exception with your assumption that you're the only one who likes or fixes up these cars, though. Plenty of us have had several (five, myself) and would give up a vital organ before giving up our cars. Some of us even love the cars enough to host a forum dedicated to them ;)

About this whole "I'm a pioneer, I keep the T-Bird dream alive" bullshiznit, I've just achieved "read that bullshiznit too many times to keep my mouth shut" status:

First, you're NOT a pioneer. A dozen rolls of masking tape, three different colour cans of Krylon, and painting a different component on the car every time the thought enters your head do not a pioneer make. Neither does an HO engine with Trick Flow intake and CAI. Installing A/F and boost gauges in a car that's not boosted is nothing new either - the Ricers trademarked that "mod". You can't even claim to pioneer multi-hued paint schemes, as they were common in the 70's (as was disco, which goes to show how we should look to the 70's for inspiration).

I'd been watching your "Aerobird GT" thread and even just reviewed it to see if I'd missed anything, and I saw absolutely NOTHING that would make you a pioneer.

You're also not the ambassador for the species that you think you are. Painting your near-classic American car up like a ricer doesn't impress the ricers and it doesn't impress fans of the car. Nobody in your town is looking at the styling train wreck that was your '87 and thinking "Man, I've gotta get one of those 80's T-Birds". What they are thinking is "Man, that kid should get a Honda".

As for this:
Quote from: carpimp
We all have our lives ahead of us and at some point most of us will SELLOUT in 5 years what will most of you be driving a fox body ford or a import or a Trans-am or Camaro or a mopar or a family car who knows.

I can't believe somebody would have the nerve to even type that after posting this in your other thread:

Quote from: carpimp
*i hope i can get a P71 or MARK 8 LSC since i almost had most of my fun with the 5.0 i might try a cool new 4.6
*Only thing i found today was a 1989 Supercoupe body to swap my 5.0 in to $500 blown engine has nicer factory sound system and i think a AOD and its red so i was thinking maybe some white bullet wheels and one or 2 white stripes.
*Might get me a fox body mustang and swap everything out
*someone siad they would sell me a 11.8 sec honda body kit and all for $5,000 sure i would hate it but if it was clean and killed Vetts and Cobras and maybe a old dodge viper i might have to go look at it if i can't find me anything else soon.
*Someone was a 93 mustang coupe about 45mins away just seeing what they want for it.
...so, um, yeah. You're dedicated :hick:

If you're comfortable with your dubious taste so be it, but please give up trying to make it look like you're doing the Fox T-Bird/Cougar community a favour.

Sorry i got order 2 things off your site or ebay.

Also have not got any sleep lately sorry.

I bought the last DD fixed up 80s T-bird in town and drive it 7 days a week now and it looks nice.

I am getting a 88 cougar XR7 which will be the only fixed up 80s cougar in town.

What i do helps but almost all of us fix up ours cars in some way or another.

So really with everything said i only dislike Cougrrr302 based on the fact that he said anything i own long enough will be turned into a worse car than the day i got it.

Last the paint job was one of a kind and will never be copied again and it was only half way done.

Also with just getting the T-Bird and getting the cougar back on the road after years of it sitting it may be about mid summer before i order them.

Also saw a blue ranger in town sam rims and center caps drilled out looked okay i wish i would of took a picture of it.

I don't care i like the car has a few things that are more than meets the eye. Its a laid back kind of car but its no joke if you want or need to race and its still got some top-end even with the 3.73s.

I would never trade or sell of this car if i can help it it may not be 100% what i want but its worth much more than what i paided for it.

I complimented your new car. I really like it, I think those wheels look amazing on there. I didnt not like the paint job on your car and you bought that Vortech and spent all that money on L.E.D.s and amps and capacitors. This Bird is a  NICE car and I can see adding a few gauges and power adders. If you make the money you do then buy some decent Autometer gauges, you rattled off about buying a bunch of Sunpro stuff. Not to dog on their stuff but its cheap. The Cougar you bought/are buying, that thing is a good platform and I wouldnt blame you for painting it all up and doing alot of custom stuff, just please leave this car looking the same and do drivetrain mods and maybe stereo or subtle interior mods. Thats the first time Ive spoken my mind. I know you gotta take shiznit when on forums and there I was the one dishing it out. Love the new car, just please leave the paint for the Coug.

lol...dropping an SBC into anything does not a pioneer make....in fact, it'd be a more accurate statement to say that the pioneers probably put one in a Conestoga wagon to go west...welll...errr..maybe not..but fact is...since the second day the SBC came into existence, people have been slapping them under the tin of almost everything, fer chrissakes, there's even motorcycles with the  things!

Pioneer? nahh...
I'm not knocking his engine choice, and this ain't even that thread...
But Carppimper...i agree...leave the Bird sleeperish...that paint was odd, to be nice.
But, at the end of the day, it's your car, you'll be the one getting the hate mail over it. :D

That SBC was a good motor and he had the parts laying around.

Who on this site keeps talking about putting a AMC 401ci motor might be a pionner.

In the Last 2 weeks i got 6 Xbox360 games and 1 nintendo Wii game wait and 2 DS games also about 5 more HD DVDs and 3 or 4 CDS and a set of cobra valve covers for $65 for the new T-Bird some new headlight blubs and more vinyls and a UPR cold air kit and UPR SFC's and some hood pins so even when i waste money without caring at all what the hell i buy i still do a good job spending money on the T-Bird.

But in all honesty the bank still owns this car so right now i might as well spend most of my money on the XR7. I still take good care of the T-Bird and why the hell would i or should i buy much more for this car if its on a bank loan for right now.

Thanks for all the nice things said about the car but i have a super bad habit of spending money and after the wreck in my 87 i still don't see a point of spending every last dime on a car. Even back in the day even with all those parts i could have a nice car but i allready got way to much money tied up in my rides.

Find me a better cold air kit.....go right ahead

Also if i want to paint the whole car white is that ricer or would that be the same thing as your cougar xr7?

also i just got the blue and sliver paint for my XR7 today at cost so it should look very nice.

Agreed. Id put all my money toward payments and pay off your loan. The quicker you pay it, the sooner its all yours and hey you'll have a great credit rating. Hell if you want send me some  money. Most people buy one video game and it lasts them quite along time for playing. Dont whine about not being able to mod it because you have a lein. You have money just spend it wisely.

Ture i could pay it off really soon but i have no credit rating so the lady at the bank said i have to keep the loan on paper for 9 months before i pay it off and its only a 18 month loan so i will get it only put about 600 miles on this car so far so i am just trying to injoy it for what it is. Oh i did buy another $10 xbox360 game so cougrrr 302 need a loan sometime soon? just joking i gotta buy a new front window for the XR7 and then a MSD box for it and i still have not got my $200 set of chrome rims off this kids mustangs because he has not put on his cobra Rs yet. But i should have the car paided off in like 10months or so but for now i can start spending all my money on the XR7 project for the most part.

20 right now so trying to get the cougar bulit before 21 want it 85-90% done and the T-Bird will get modded a little but its just a DD so maybe a mild cam like TFS stage 1 or steeda cam #18 and trickflow or BBK SSI intake and maybe a set of AFR or eldbrock RPM heads or some GT40 Ps. Then maybe a 3G swap and 1 sub and amp. then paint every last part of the car white on the outside.

The window banner is blade runner font adn was only like $12. It shows up really bright in the day and you almost can't even see it at night.

The carpimp thing was just because there was a empty panel all the vinyls except the window banner where only $5 each and the guy will print them up right then and there. So as soon as i pick something out 2 or 3 mins later its on the car and its not wasting a lot of time or money.

I saw those same decals in the book you got taste i do like the custom cougar hood and the turbine wheels look like  unless there painted 100%.

Windows are made for vinyl the rest of the car body is to be left vinyl free 95%+ of the time but thats just what i think.

But also you should not have ford vinyls on a cougar anywhere unless its in the engine bay for the most part that would be like putting camaro badges or writing on a trans-am.

Also 1 last ? for 1WLDBRD how well does that BBK CAI work? just asking if i ever get another one of these cars without massair.

Sometimes panels with nothing on them make a bigger and better statement than panels with something on them.A lot of the time, especially on these cars, less is better.

$50/ea?!  For a skin?  No thanks.  You can get your wheels powder coated for about that price.  Which do you think will look better after a week?

Somehow the "Car Pimp" decal seems appropriate for a red interior.

I know i did not even know they made wheel skins or whatever you want to call them. The car pimp decal seems to be in a nice place its there but out of the way at the same time and fills up a empty spot now i need to get my gauges put above the CD player to fill up more empty spaces.

im 17, and my car still looks like shiznit. but shes got alot of stuff done to it that the untrained eye wont see while shes sitting still.

thats the greatest factor about these cars...the unseen things i dont care how bad it looks...... i know whats done to it. they dont.

I 100% agree with vinnie. its the unseen things on thses cars that are the best parts.

ok dude
First
sorry but I have to ask this, are you one of those super geeky kids, that bought a V8 car, and puts mad shiznit into it so he can try to look cool for girls?
Im not trying to be a prick, but thats what it seems like to me.
second
Pay off the car, and mod it. You seem passionate about these cars, why not own it as fast as you can? and forget putting plastic hubcaps on, thats soooooo gay.
Get turbo coupe brushed interior trim, and a full length console, put a system in, and call it done. Then do suspension, brakes, wheels and tires, then motor work. I bought my car cause I love how its a such a sleeper. It looks like a grandma car(well did before the new wheels) I bought it, got it running, then spent time getting it driveable, then i started body work, and making it look good, and a little on making it quicker. No one expects what they hear when I turn the key, and pop the hood it amazes them, thats why I love the sleeper look
Hell if you dont spend all your cash paying it off faster, save it all for the cougar
so you got to get your priorities in order, and get going on that thing!!

Like i am gonna buy that i was looking for rims for the cougar XR7 and i saw that auction it kinda of made me laugh a lot..

The drivers side seat belt does not work so i gotta use the passanger side which sucks for right now.

Don't worry i will pay it off soon its a 18 month loan but i will pay it in half the time.

The cougar XR7 is where most of money is going after i get that car running and get all my old parts put in plus all the new stuff i ordered i almost can't upgrade it anymore except maybe a set of heads or most boost or upgrade the E-cam and thats about it.

The stock wheels on my Grand Am GT have those chrome skins, but leave yours as is, dont even paint them. Car looks good as is, and yes I mean stop putting stickers on it. And to your previous comment, yeah I would take your money, because my money goes to mods that do something. Wheels, exhaust and engine work, maybe a system. I dont waste time on vinyls unless its window tint. The only thing Im putting on my Grand Am is a reversed windshield banner(vinyl across the windshield and the letters are where there is no vinyl)

Don't get mad because i buy it all then some go work 6 days a week get lots of overtime and pay off or pay down most of your debits then you can buy whatever the hell you want.

i just sold off a 1200 watt amp and i got extra subs and front speakers and cd players extra hoods and wheels and tires and intreior parts and shifters anntennas seat covers leds cams i got stuff i don't even need and the reason i don't care is i am always at work and as fast as i make money i spend it then go work somemore.

Don't hate now go out there and make some money and make so much money you can't even spend it all or go broke if you try your best. I have tired 10 or more times to spend every last dollar i had never works still had money and car parts and video games and cds and movies.

Perhaps some of us have --what's the word? Oh yeah -- a LIFE.  You know car payment, mortgage/rent, electricity, heating oil, Sally needs a dress for her dance recital ----- Stuff like that Not to mention keeping the significant other in our live happy (birthday, 10th wedding  anniversary and Mother's day all within 12 days FTMFL!!!!)

Have fun with those decals as the rest of us can't "afford them".

Got my UPR cold air kit installed today used the top part off my old wrecked car which had to be cut down some and the hole for the air fliter has to be cut and made a little bigger. Also the MAF still had the Screen in it so i took that out. let me check if its still raining and i will go take a few pics.

The UPR cold air kit works well with very little cutting and is $99 so its well worth the Ca$h. Heres a few pics and sorry i keep kind of g a few of you off here and there.

Note: if you don't got Mass air then the BBK cold air kit with a CAI would be a good pick for your ride.

This car hates to go into park and as my DD i will try and pay it off and tehn only spend maybe $4000 extra for those GT500s with a 24mm offset new piant job some body work subs and amps and lighting then a 3g alt newer style starter gauges CC plates and sub frame connectors.

OVERALL cost i want to keep under $7,900

Thanks for the comments a street over form me someone has a 87-88 blue cougar body and car looks to be almost perfect so i will see if there home and ask if i can take a few pics sometime this week or next.

Also a kid i know has the same 2001 Mustang gt rims on his ranger so i will look and see if i can find a mustang and his ranger and my T-bird all with the same rims and take a few pics for the hell of it  before i swap the wheels out.

Wheels look better than I would have guessed.

Another guess, unless those wheels aren't mounted properly on the car, you need to get the front end aligned.  Too much positive camber.

We shouldn't pick at those things.Everyone has something different going on with their cars.Let him enjoy his in his own way without trying to take his pride in his own vehicle away from him.I don't like spoilers and a lot of chrome (that's just a "for example"),but I'm not going to rip a guy that does.I think it's time to rest on the insults.Let the guy enjoy his car.If you don't like something,be nice about it or be quiet. There's a difference between criticism and constructive criticism.

My 2 cents

my 2 cents will go throws a 3g swap later so i could careless also going to put on the valve covers when i order a upper and lower intake with also comes with a EGR spacer and throttle body. then i will get some Chaster chamber plates those GT500 rims. Get 1 10" sub and amp and box and use a 1 farad cap i got laying around on it. if the starter locks up ever i will go get a PMGR starter. New paint job next year and body work then have vinne make me some clear corner head lights. and if i get all that other stuff i will get someone to make me 2 cup holders and build a box above the carpet. Some UPR Custom pedals and a UPR k memeber kit full kit.

want to have the car done by summer of 09 or somewhere close around there.

Also with constructive criticism if theres a better part out there or a better price send me a link or if theres something that might look good on the car or make it better post a link for that 2.

I would say leave the PMGR starters on the cars they originally came from...I had one...and hated the  out of it...the car sounded like it had a dead battery when you were trying to start it...there is NO need for a gear reduction style starter unless you have some serious compression or some big inches....I've even run long-tubes with the standard old starter that's been around for 40+ years and didn't have any fitament issues or heat soak issues...not really worth the time and money in my opinion.  You could put that money towards something else...like CC plates...lol.

There's my 2 cents

Good luck,
Don

i raced a new black mustang gt 2006+ form like a 55mph roll and was sitting side by side with his car for like over 5 secs and  the front end picked up on the stang and it was sitting a fender and fender race for awhile and when he finally was starting to pass me it was a few more secs before he even got a full car on me.

Also went in a ride in a 13 sec SVT ford focus then i took him for a ride in my T-Bird we both where thinking the mustang was gonna kick my ass but my car kept up and we both where wrong. Car takes off fast from a dead stop but i did not think it had that much mid range and top end.

Also got my Green LEDs hooked up they match the digi dash and some of the cd player buttons and the AC.

The Starter will not be messed with unless it breaks then i will upgrade it its nice to have but not worth throw money at it untill it stops working like in my old car.

ITS more for the Cougar XR7 since it should be making over 400RWHP on low or stock boost but still fun for the DD.

The TC 8.8 rearend is making noise so i gotta take the one of my wrecked T-Bird and swap them out soon also taking out the amp board to clean up the trunk and make it a little more sound proof.

Anyone pay much attention to the Shelby Redline GT500s i was thinking a TC hood and TC nose and TC front bumper with fog lights and those GT500 wheels and add my old spoiler and 2 red racing stripes and the side stripes for the mustang its another $1,500 tagged on the price tag also comes in black with red stripes but just a idea i got about 10 to think about or change around a little bit for right now but i got 1 year to make up my mind and do something about the paint and body and wheels.

Heres pics of BBK pulleys i had to take them off the old car the alterntor pulleys is the one that came with it and the BBK is the only one left on my engine going into the XR7.

Well it has to do with where there colors split and where there will be 2 different styles of the new GT500 wheels and the embelms will be 2 different colors.

So when it comes down to it all it has to do with is a One of a Kind T-Bird that will have to different sides to it and the looks will be close on each side but slighty different. Also it has to do with breaking the rules of car design and making something not 100% new but still has not been done down to every detail i plan on doing.

P.S. Haystack i gotta move out in like 6 or 7 months but hopefully its not as bad as you say.

theres small spots of paint missing everywhere and a the paints tore on the rear bumper and a 2inch black gash on one of the sides and a faded bumper sticker which might have more paint missing under it if 20 years is not long enough for a car to get a new paint job.

Also had this idea for over the last month or so this maybe news to you guys but the only reason i think i want to paint it like that and the 30+ ideas before it where no good along with the other 20+ ideas i had for my 87 T-bird so with over 50 plus themes paint wheels and tires and body work this is the most simple to paint and easy to live with paint job i can think of along with the wheels and tires.

You can't keep a all black car clean also you can't keep soild chromes wheels clean so the car should look 50% clean all the time and the other half of the time i gotta wash the car good or at least spend more time cleaning one side.

Can't you be happy its not Red,White, and Blue and i want 2 colors insted of 3 and the cougar will be sliver and blue 2 tone as well.

Its not my car yet but i should have it paided off soon with the cougar XR7 being almost done in the next 2 months or so i gotta have something else to work on.

Sorry vinne i got the car pictured in my mind all done down to engine and body and wheels and tires the detail is down to every last bolt and drop of paint.

step away from the crack pipe vinnie, that paint scheme was hideous on the stang and it will be the same on the bird.  fox bird is right, he makes our cars look better everyday.:mullet:

A car with paint is better than a car with rust or missing paint.

But vinne can't find a fender and i can't find a painter so i think it might take awhile before we get ours cars painted.

I did see a all black 2005+ Mustang GT with black bullet rims and blackouts and some Green racing stripes and the only other newer stang in town that looks that good is the new Green Bullit stang up at the dealership. Also some other guy has a blue stang with a red and a yellow stripe down the middle and a superman sticker on the back it looks good just always wanted to ask the guy why it was like that.

As they say thunderbirds are slow so any one that runs and runs good is a sleeper no matter what color it is even the lime green ones.

Then grab yourself some touch up paint and 300-600 grit sandpaper and scuff the bad spots and fix them.  No one will be able to tell without really looking close.  Then cover with some restoring wax and it should be pretty good.

Some people don't have "paint schemes"  or "themes" or "designs".  In my personal opinion, the best looking cars have solid colors, but good quality paint.  If your car is straight and you get it done right, it will be just as impressive as a crazy paint scheme.

BUT, I do respect your right to make your car YOURS, the way YOU like it.

Thanks man i gotta have a T-bird again where everyone knows who it is but right now it still looks nice enough to stop by car shows and what not. As far as 1 color is easy but 2 colors is a little bit harder to do right and 3 colors can be done right but is to much for most people.

Vinne is right i think i can get the car painted and body work and the paint and other stuff all done for under $550 or close to that. So do i care what the banks car looks like hell no as long as its not rusting or missing paint Should get it painted maybe start of next year.

The car used to have a 347 and run 12s now its got a 302 and runs good but no where near what is used to so i got to upgrade the whole  motor and repaint the car and change out some stuff at least get the car running 14s or 13s. But if it still had the 347 i am not sure if i could of got it so cheap.

I know how the car will look when its done in my mind so i could careless what it looks like now the car is only half way done or less.

When the cougar is done i will show it off all the time or take it out drag racing. When the T-bird is done it make a good daily driver and still be able to take it to a car show or go race it. Then after that is done i must either get a lincoln mark 8 LSC or get lucky and find the baby blue mark 7 bill bass in town has a hood scoop and chrome cobra Rs and its for sale again and fix me up a Hot Rod lincoln.

Vinne the T-bird will have to look better than Hawks blue TC for me to even start having any Envy. Almost my new 88 T-bird i got now is the main reason i fixed up my old car and my wrecked 87 was in my family for 11 years so i do like 87-88 T-Birds a lot. But i know Vinne will bust your @$$ working on the car and will blow all your Ca$h fixing it up so it might be one of the nicest around ever.

Was $3.64 tonight at my work and Wal-mart i think was 3.59 or 3.57 the other night.

But i get 20mpg in town with my foot all the way down whenever i want 2 or there is low traffic 2. Also does really well on the highways. MY next Gas Saver i hope will be The Mark 8 LSC with a LMS exhuast system and Kooks headers air burshed looking Flames on the front and some FR500s Cold Air kit and Chip. I want it to look like a Restomod Hot Rod and get good mileage not matter how i drive it and for the Exhuast to sound like the whole is coming to a end and to Echo.

I like the fact my cd player when i got it cut out at night when it got cold or when it moved around so i got the one out of my wrecked car and it still has a lot of Oil floting around inside of it and works just like new and rarely cuts out unless the car is wheel hopping or theres a bump in the road.

MY old car would not even run on 88 barely would get out of the gas station most of the time would die 2 or 3 times in a row and my new car i have only used 86 so far it might run better on 88 i just need to call the old owner and ask him.

Also V8 Demon thats the wrost thing i have heard all day whats your gas bill for the month....wait i don't even want to know. But you still got 2 Bad@$$ Cars so the world is not all bad.

With less to no almost daily updates on what you think you might get but your saving, post about your new stickers, or really the post that makes you stay at the top of the section for no good reason. 25 pages and what have you done to the car but wash it and put on / take off sticker, CAI (not even sure about that one), throw on your old trunk lid.... Sorry if I missed anything but nothing else was worth remembering. Time for a new thread.

Also the car still drive fine and good enough to win a street race going to the shop stupid eclipse.

NO NO NO see thats the thing!!! Theyll NEVER move out of the way....but they are always ready to spring up at a moment's notice and block your path.

As long as CP realizes he can't say he didn't see it....kinda hard to miss a big pole..much less when it has concaved the grille somewhat.

Next time..use a Camaro to test the local poles, lol.

Better yet, make sure there is no "next time".

I only hit the thing form a rolling start maybe like 3-5 feet away foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas. Time for a TurboCoupe nose and a full paint job soon and i got a set of TC fog lights somewhere around the house allready.

Out of the 4 wrecks i ever had this time i did not hit a car or did a car hit me. Also 3 out of 4 of them where less than 10 MPH. Then 1 out of 4 times i was not even in the car at the time of the wreck but i still was the one that started the car.

The pole is more like the things in front of a store that keep you form driving in not that i was 2 lazy to walk in my foot slipped off the brake onto the gas. Without that there i might of made it past the front door.

I went to pull up on some plastic car ramps on my freinds driveway, and sailed into his house when the ramps slipped. That didn't even crack the header panel and barely scratched the bumper. I was going at least 10 to 15. You would have had to be doing more like 25 or just had everything hit just right.

I've bought two at a time, and one at a time.I bought one chrome Cobra R for $21.00 shipped (new),then found the rest.Sometimes you can get a set of wheels super cheap when you go that route.

What size are they width wise? I would think about tring to find some  8" for the front. That way they will tuck under the fender lips. As overdone Cobras are and everything I still like how clean they look on everything. 5 lugs look cleaner than 4 but they still look good

I dont have the bumper from that car butI might be able to get ahold of a TC cover. IIRC the bottom "ribs" are broke but you cant tell unless you roll under the car.

Thinking of moving the cobra Rs up front and getting some GT500s for the back of it. i got 5 2001 GT rims to sell so then i can get nicer wheels to go with it and buy a full set later on.
