Ok, so my back-up lights don't come on. I figured the connection was in that black connector that comes out of the trans hump and goes into the dash, but I have this connected and they don't work. Should this signal show up on the column? I don't know why it would (maybe for auto cars, same wiring?) but that's the only place I modified the dash harness for the SN dash (so far). where do I find it? What am I missing?
From the '87 EVTM:
[LIST=1]
1. Fuse 5, 15A, Hot in Run
2. Purple/Orange wire to turn signal flasher. Upper RH corner of fuse panel.
3. Purple/Orange wire to overboost buzzer. LH side of dash near light switch.
4. Purple/orange wire to black 12 terminal connector. Behind center of dash.
5. Purple/Orange wire to backup light switch on trans.
6. Black/pink wire back to same 12 terminal connector.
7. Black/Pink wire to gray 8 terminal connector. LH side of dash at fuse panel.
8. Black/Pink wire to backup lights.

Dang, ok for one thing I'm stupid cause I forgot I HAVE an evtm. Next, why do I have no back up lights?
I did 'eliminate' the system sentry unit. Could this be the problem? I also have no working gauges in and I don't believe I made any connections for this at the column (multifunc/ign sw). Am I overlooking something obvious? Everything else seems to work...
Refer to pages 100 and 101 in your EVTM and get out your meter.
right on, thanks!
