Title: Turbo problem
Post by: mike60 on March 02, 2005, 09:06:18 PM
help help help... I have a  1984 Turbo Cougar that has about 70,000 original miles. A few months ago it blew a head gasket,so I put it the garage and fixed it over the winter, all of the motor is back together now. Problem is the fuel pump in the tank will not work nor will the gas gauge work, no blown fuses, pump is good (I dropped the tank and ran power straight to it), no broken wires that i can see, inertia switch is good, I even jumped it out. i am not getting any power to the inertia switch. any ideas    thanks

Mike

Look for the EEC power relay (under the dash on the pass side just above where the ECU is in the pass kick panel) or the fuel pump relay (in the trunk attached to teh back of the seat).  One of them might be stuck.
Do you hear the inline pump prime when you turn the key to the "RUN" position?

Check your relays.  You have 2 pumps in that car ...you should hear them prime.
