I did a search and I guess I never posted this here... Well here it is...
After the kid screwed me out of buying that '86 Cougar, I went out and bought this car:

the car is in beautiful, rust free condition, but has 200kms on it.. (though you would never know by looking at it..)
the only thing I had to do is put a new rack in it, and a signal light switch...
well I just made a a deal to trade it and $500 cash for this:
did I just get screwed or did I make a good trade?
1990 Ford Thunderbird Supercoupe
103K original
5-spd transmission - shifts great, no issues
Titanium Silver on full black leather (I'll be swapping out the cloth in the pics, seats, door panels, and rear speaker covers will all be leather)
Dual full power front seats, split folding rear seat
PW/PDL/PM/P M-ROOF/P TRUNK
Code Alarm aftermarket keyless entry/alarm
Cruise
Air
VMM
Storage tray in the top of the dash
I'm asking $3200obo for the car or trades.
Oh and don't mind the dirt, the paint actually looks a lot better, it needs a wash badly.

The 5.0 is probably easier to work on and more reliable. The SC is probably a good bit faster and funner with the 5 speed.
Also, the 5.0 looks a lot cleaner to me. And judging by the race pic the SC has been beat on already.
you mean like this? (http://"http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=18142&highlight=black+interior") :hick:
as far as the trade, you got a car that is a year older w/less miles and a manual tranny, sounds OK to me.
Miles mean nothing if it was maintained properly IMHO. Are those TSW rims in the SC?
If forced to own another MN12 'd take the SC, just for the 5-speed. Funny how the first pic makes it look gold - I was reading the description and saw "Titanium silver" and was like WTF? Then I scrolled down and saw a silver car :hick:
well it depends if the ballencer has been replaced or not. on these engines (sc's) they break whenever its inconvienant for you. I know im having issues with my SC. More tranny issues than anything. But when i did get to drive it i had a blast lisining to that blower kick in and make that mutch power. But i would see how the matenance was kept up on and everything before id say it was a good deal. Also have fun hunting parts down since these engines are rare to start with.
LOVE THE SC!!!
Good luck with it!! My dads friend that he used to work with had a nice one, all done up(when it first came out) man i was like 3 or 4, and i remember that thing would RIP the tires to pieces when he would dump the clutch, that thing was LETHAL.
I found a black on black one up here, 5 speed, 100k(about) on it, but a blown head gasket, the car sat guy started it up, beat it, blew a head gasket wanted 800 for the car, and it was CLEAN. I missed it... and I beat my self for not going to look at it sooner.... Would have been a fun project!
yep and they are coming with it, along with a brand new CAI... though he has a set of cobras, that I am trying to get him to sell me instead...
another negative is the fact that I will have to run 93 octane....:toilet:
the main thing that has me sold on the deal is the sunroof and 5 speed...:shakeass: I will be taking the 2.5hour drive to look at it friday or saturday... if I like what I see, she will be coming home with me.
If ya blow up the 3.8 you can always drop a 5.0 in, too :D
thats what I was thinking too... LOL
ok I backed out of the deal for a few reasons... one of them is that it needs a steering rack, and I just spent 8 hours doing the one in this bird. but also the list of problems he gaive me with it...
My car has NO rust or dents, and I just replaced the rack... plus the interior is imacculate, and I know the drivetrain is solid and reliable.... that and my car is already certified and E-tested... and everybody has pretty much told me Im nuts thinking of trading the 5.0L for the supercoupe, do to repair costs and cost for performance parts...
Nice trading the 1st car for the Supercoupe but still are both nice cars.
Oh well... now you'll have to swap an M5OD into the 5.0 Bird to make it an SC wannabe... :hick:
I'll trade you my 95 3.8 T-bird for your 5.0 MN-12. It has 70,000 miles so it has less miles which means fair trade ;)
I dont trade down in power, only up... if it was a 4.6L I would say sure... my buddy is trying to trade me back my green tbird and cash for this thing.. lol.:shakeass:
Come on it's got the all powerful 3.8 V6. Who wants a 5.0 when you can have the raw power of the all mighty 3.8 V6:hick:
That sucks, Ive always wanted a SC but yeah, that wouldnt be a good trade at all with those problems. I love the thought of 330lb ft of torque stock.
Well, swap out your 5.0 for a 32v 4.6 and supercharge it. Boom, a real supercoupe.
