Title: Just got back from the boneyard.....
Post by: vinnietbird on March 20, 2008, 02:41:33 PM
I got a few things today.I picked up the LAST good passenger side fender,a nice trunk lid,two 5 speed shift levers and s,the rubber and metal gasket the seals to the floor for my 5 speed conversion,an inboard TC parking light (passenger side),2 inboard parking lights (passenger side) for non-TC's,2 driver side signal lights,an electronic climate control panel,an '87/'88 Cougar license plate holder (hard to find part),and some smaller misc.items.As always, they gave me a good deal.If any of you guys are ever near southern Oklahoma, let me know and I'll hook you up with this place. They have about 15 to 20 fox thundercats.Next trip,I'll probably grab the '87/'88 Cougar front lights. There were a few out there.I needed the front fender more than anything,I'd install it today, but I hate pulling the radio antenna cable.LOL.

There was a full set there, all looked good.I didn't get them because my hands were FULL of stuff, and the cars we deal with are about 1/4 mile from the building. After carrying my fender, trunk lid, tool box,and duffle bag full of the other stuff,I was too wore out to go back.Hopefully I'll go back in a couple of weeks. No grey armrest either.I looked at everything.

Yes.....yes they would.LOL.

I believe there was two sets of signal lights for the Cougars there.I don't know for sure when I'll get to go back, but I am pretty sure the lights will still be there.I'll probably grab all I can next trip. There's gold in them thar hills !!!!!!!!

oh,and about the Friday thing,I have to go when I can.It actually throws my schedule off as well, but it sure felt good to go.I did have a HUGE problem trying to get the fender off.It was too muddy to get the tow truck out there to lift the car,and there were no wheels on the car. That ONE bolt on the rear underside of the fender was slightly bent upwards,so,I couldn't get my socket on it.I couldn't get the pliers,or vice grips on either.I ended up breaking a piece of the header panel off and using it like a shovel to dig a big hole under the car so i could get my small vie grips on the bolt.It worked, and the fender came home. The trunk lid has already been sanded and primed.I'll install it tomorrow. One step closer.

Move to Oklahoma? You'll LOVE the over 100 degree weather for 2-3 months straight, while the 90% humidity is drowning you in sweat.BUT,the parts are sometimes plentiful, and when there seems to be a slow spot in parts hunting, another couple of Birds and cougars show up.Like the two TC's I got the differetial and other parts from.$120.00 for the diff, trunk panel, two computers, very nice fog lights and brackets, and some interior trim pieces. Not a bad deal.C'mon down you guys,I'll share.

Yeah sounds like a place I could easily get used to. 100 degrees ahhh I can take it yeah it's a lot but I'm WAYY better in the heat than the cold. I do have a/c and as long as you're not sitting in traffic got plenty of air flowin through both windows I'll bet it's great.

There's an '87 LX in a small town about 20 miles from here. The body is excellent, the interior  is very nice (except for a cracked dash),and it has the star wars gauges and 8 hole wheels, light group option, and the key pad on the driver door for keyless entry. It's silver with grey interior.I'm going to be checking on it soon.I'm hoping about $200.00 will take it home.It needs a driver side taillight lense, but otherwise,no visable damage.News on that as it happens.
