Maybe some cargo coils with ajustsble lowers would give the lift you want?Your the first I heard who wanted to raise the car.
Here's a link for moog springs, gives all the specs ,maybe you can come up with something that would work.for referece the stock replacement # for an 87 is 8599.

Just install a set of CHE adjustable lower control arms with your stock springs. It'll bring the car's arse up at least an inch at the LOWEST setting and can be jacked up even more via the adjusters...

You could always instal air bags in each side, then you could raise and lower as you want for about $60. I have had mine set up this way for about 4 years. It works great for when I ride 4 up in the car.
