So I got the boxes welded up.
to the tune of 1200 bucks. :mad:
Oh well , at least its done right. He reinforced the frame rails, and welded the boxes back up to the floorpan, He also stuck 1/8 plate steel with 1/4" washers for the bolt holes. Those suckers arent going to move again. Plus he Tigged everything together and it is freakin solid. Plus he bead blasted the SSM arms, and the Swaybar. He also painted them and painted all of his work as well. Good Job.
But he burned the rear seat back.
Good thing though he's replacing (re-covering) the back AND the bottom so they match. Its gonna be nice.:evilgrin:

I need to do that myself. Thanks for reminding me to remove the entire back seat before firing up the wleder :hick: This is the 3rd burnt back seat story I've heard in a month! I'll be welding in the Competition Engineering reinforcing plate at the same time.
I had to do this same repair on my car 3 times and I still ripped the holes in the 1/8 plates and now the car is set up with a ladder bar and i ripped the competition engineering crossmember apart.
Live and learn.
Yeah. 1200 bucks. It should have been 2400 because he spent 16 hours per side. No joke. He only charged me for 8 per side though.
Wow...........I may have to buy myself the new Lincoln arc welder I want. I have been welding braces and such for MN-12 cars a while now. Maybe I should go back to Fox body cars too? I had Two Fairmonts, an 80' T-Bird, my oldest Son still has his 81' Granada GLX and my youngest Son's first car was an 80' Fairmont.
I did alot of the welding in sub frame connectors, plates and such to add strength to our cars.
I may have to expand my hobby to include Fox bodies.
I included a pic of my rear braces for MN-12 cars.

Yeah i'd like to see them too, I'm not quite following what you had done. I didn't know a job like that cost that much.
