Title: Cruise Control
Post by: leblumax on March 13, 2008, 04:44:51 AM
I am in need of a cruise control servo for an 88 T-Bird Sport. That's the 302 and AOD trans. Ford Dealer claims they cannot get it new anymore which I guess should not surprise me on a 20 year old part.

Anyone out there have one they are confident is still working?

I might have one at my parents house. It won't have the cable with it though (that's what I needed when I got it). I'll give them a call today and see if they still have it somewhere.

Just so you are aware, RockAuto.com lists this part number for it:

A-1 CARDONE Part # 382101
Its 95.79 plus the $11.00 core

I work here, and it appears that they are in stock.

Well I talked to my father today and he says it is around so he is going to look for it.  He thinks it is in the garage.  He'll let me know if he finds it tomorrow.
Title: Cruise Servo
Post by: leblumax on March 15, 2008, 10:10:34 PM
Thanks for the replies. I am VERY unmechanical so I have no idea what it looks like or where it is mounted.

I have already had the cable replaced and it lasted 2 days and quit again. That's when the dealer told me I needed the servo. I've lived without it for 2+ years but I think maybe my ankle would appreciate the fix. I drive 98 miles round trip 3 days per week and work 13.25 hr shifts. Driving home @0800 my leg needs a break.

John Draxler @The Thunderbird Ranch in WI has let me know he has one for $45. SSX, is the one you have NEW or used/refurbished? And how much do you think you will want to get for it?

i did a whole thread with pictures of the cruise system in electrical tech.  just search and you can use that to share with your mechanic.
Aparently you have been told the servo is bad but nothing will cause the servo to retract or recoil the cable other than signals supplied by the amplifier (totally different part).

make em double check the amplifier and also the tiny metal clip that holds the cable on the servo.

SSX - Have you been able to track down that Cruise servo? I got one from Joh Draxler @T-Bird ranch and the dealer charged me $65 to tell me it was no good too.

Well, at least John let me send it back and didn't charge me until it worked.

Sorry I missed this thread.  The servo is used, but I'm pretty confident it works, but it won't include the cable (that's why I got it, my cable broke).  I just called my Dad and he's pretty busy, but he said he'd know for certain if he has it by Monday.  You can have it for $30 if he finds it.  If you need it sooner/find a better offer/want a new one go ahead and do that.  I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner, I went on vacation to visit my brother and completely forgot about this thread.

Servo only is fine. I replaced the cable then a couple weeks later the servo ped. Been living w/out for 3 years but my poor arthritic abkle wants it fixed for the 49 mile one way drives to work.
