I need a new dash!  It has that huge crack they all get right in the middle, LOL :toilet:
**Edit** Just ordered the Dashtops one in Satin Black:burnout:

And Claude, I still need the armrest;)  If you have the side clips as well that would be great!

I just ordered one to.  I'm hoping the satin black looks OK with the two tone.

I was wondering about the dome light too.  Looks like a nice mod.

The visors were from an Explorer.  The Sable/Taurus has similar mirrors, but they are too narrow...

You can see the dark spot in the pic where the warning label used to be on the left side visor....I prefer the dark spot over the bright yellow label.

The dome light is from a '97 T-Bird.  The light bulbs used are the same as are the mount points.  The mount points are the same on almost every Ford for the dome lights.  This thing is TONS brighter than the stock piece.

Actually I've been meaning to get one of those dash-rugs for mine for a LONG time, just never get around to it. My dash is great.....and I want it to stay that way. I Armor-All the hell out of it and have one of those fold-up shades I have in the winsheild constantly in the summer but I'd like to have that specifically on the dash all the time.

LOL  :hick:

Thanks, Eric;)

I bought the "rug" about 4 years ago.  I peeked under it last year...The damage has gotten worse.  It's just too unsightly on the top.  I may even cut an area or two out before I install the new top.

Nice Pauly LOL.

Your dome light is very cool, glad to see someone thinking differently. I had that in one of my cars once and I really liked it as well. Also, the early-to-mid 1990s cars (Mustang, Cougar, T-Bird, Crown Vic, etc.) had a larger square-type dome light that was very bright. That's the same light I have in the back of my Mountaineer, in fact. It's another alternative.

Yes...that is a good thing. If your dash is that badly cracked, purposely deforming it will help with the dash cover install.

I have that dome light on the bench waiting to go on.I like the interior, but,I really can't say that I like the steering wheel or cover.A TC wheel or Stang GT wheel would be a beter wheel in my own opinion.I hate skinny steering wheels.Great looking car, though.

A wheel from an 85 Mustang is now in my posession.  I'm torn on how to route the cruise functions.  I can wire it so it's on the panel or change the steering column and have cruise on the stalk.  I like the column idea as it would appear like a factory job.  I'm not sure how difficult it would be though...

Alrighty I vacuumed it out today and figured why not take a few pics.
I dragged the 20th Anny floormats outta the basp00get for this! :hick:  The driver's side one is rugged, nice wear spot under the driver's right heel of course and the embroidered logo colors are worn away and its hardly readable. The passenger side one is real nice though, so I don't use em, so they'll stay nice. Instead I use some $.99 ea. rubber ones from walmart!!! lol

That's funny, mine showed up today too.  Not sure if I'm going to leave it black or not.  I'm a bit worried about it wearing funny and wanting to paint it later after it's glued on.

I fit mine on since the dash is already off and found that the side needs to be trimmed back a bit to get it snug on the sides.  See pics attached.  Passenger's side needs to be trimmed at the corner and drivers side needs to be trimmed about an 1/8" from bottom up to the curve.

The rug?  Or the hard one?

The rug came with velcro strips and some glue.  I actually went and purchased extra.  The darn thing just never straigtened out the way it was supposed to....I let it sit unraveled for a week too!
The hard Dashtop comes with a silicone adhesive.

Haven't found the time....I was gonna do that and the headlight the other day.  The headlight turned into a 3 hour project with 2 rusted bolts from the adjuster plate into the header panel.  Can't torch it 'cause it's plastic....Broke 3 drill bits tryin to get them out:mad:

After that I was a little too angry to attempt something that required a decent amount patience.  It's amazing how one can do a rather large job in 1/4 of the time that is said to and the easy tasks become a disaster.

I particularly like the near-perfect headliner. That dome light works too!

Backseat is in much better shape than the front and doesn't need a truck seat cover lol. Also those floormats I found on the ROAD. That rubber mat is very brittle and has already cracked apart a bit. It has to be pulled off to take off a small metal plate allowing access to the master cylinder so it's already taken a beating a little so I figure these will help. Especially for the passenger side since that whole half is GREAT!

We finally had a nice day so I did a bit of work to the T-Bird's interior. My goal is to get this thing back together and get it on the road by the end of April. I know, the two-tone red/black door panel is kinda carpimp1987-ish, but my dark blue TC panels are trashed and I didn't think the red carpeting on the base panels would cover up very well, so it's two-tone until I can get a decent set of raven TC panels. The red won't look so bad, though - the carpet, rear window tray carpet and headliner are all still red, too :hick: ...at least until I get around to finding and installing black stuff...

If it's outside the car does it count as an interior shot? :hick: I got the panels painted but didn't get 'em installed yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

I don't know why, but my camera sucks at red. The red parts are actually the standard "porno red" colour, but they look brighter here...

Those black panels will match up to the black dash and console I installed last fall. I've gotta remove the seats and dye 'em black still, and everything is dusty in these pics because the car was being prepared for paint:

We had 2 his past week.  I had training.  All week.  During the day.  8am-4pm.  The first time in 4 years I've worked a day shift let alone a week.  I was not happy.

Hopefully soon.  I have to pull the passenger door panel and replace my window clips as well and I'd like to do both at once.  I need the center armrest too....Mine likes like poo....as if someone took a lighter and hairspray to a 4 inch square area and messed up the fabric.  After that, she's done!

Looks good!

What's the wire to the rear deck for?  Is it the same one from the cigarette lighter?

Yeah, it's going to a 11W solar cell on the deck. It helps keep the battery charged in winter or when the car sits. One mod I'm considering is adding another cigarette lighter at the back of the center console so the cord doesn't have to run all the way up front.

Hi, I have one question. Which dashboard belongs to T-Bird '86? Most I see have old looking dashboard (like '84 or '85), but my '86 has dashboard which is in '87 or '88 T- Birds. Here it is.

Should it be the transition type?

83-84 had the same dash, 85-88 had the dash you have.

Yeah, about the only significant difference between yours and an '87-88 would be that the 87-88 has the "firm ride" light in the tach. Back then Ford didn't want to spend all its money on the still-successful 83-86 body style, so only the interior, tail lights, T-Bird emblems and grille were changed for '85. The '87 redesign saw all new body panels but the interior was unchanged from 85-86 (except where changes were needed so interior panels would bolt onto the new, differently shaped body, such as around the quarter windows).

I see you're in the Czech Republic. An upgrade you might want to think about is a Canadian speedometer. The Canadian speedo is metric and goes up to 200 km/hr. Here's a pic of mine when the odometer just turned 100,000 km:

Hmm, good idea, but accuracy of my speedometer is very poor because of used gear box from Mustang. It has more than 30 km/h difference from reality (shows more).

"firm ride" light - What is it?

Sounds like the speedo gear needs a swap.

The 87-88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupes had an electronic suspension (Programmed Ride Control) as standard equipment. There was a switch on the dash to go between "normal" and "firm", plus it would automatically go into "firm" mode at certain times (during aggressive driving). Whenever it was in "firm" mode the firm ride light would come on. It's in the tachometer, a little green LED next to the boost gauge.

I don't think so, it works well, it has only this small mistake with showed speed.

That's precisely what the speedo gear's job is.....to indicate the correct speed.  Whenever you change tire size in the overall diameter aspect or rear end ratio or both; you can swap the speedometer gears to compensate for the changes in tire rotations vs. engine RPM to give a correct reading of speed and distance travelled.

By "Speedo gear" he means the speed sensor gear on the tranny. Since you swapped a different tranny (likely with a different number of teeth on the tail shaft) you need the proper gear for it to make your speedo accurate.

Can some moderator separate our discussion to another thread, please? I don't like to full this thread with OT.

Thanks.

My Cougar's interior looks like poop compared to the ones I'm seeing in this thread. My interior sorta got "raped" when the car got re-wired. The dash is coming back out once again so I can replace it while I add a clutch peddle. That poor dash is all to pieces. Has either been out or modified too many times. Plus the dash cover that covered the cracks is cracked itself, lol.
