Title: Need help identifying a spoiler...
Post by: P71 on March 10, 2008, 08:00:37 PM
So I bought this spoiler from someone on here almost 2 years ago. It was advertised as being for a 83-86 Thunderbird. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it's not even remotely close to fitting any fox-chassis T-Bird or Cougar at all. Doesn't fit a Crown 'Vic, an FB RX-7, or a Grand Prix either.

It is a Xenon spoiler, and has no part # embedded (it's resin I think, lightweight, nice spoiler honestly). There's some grease pencil markings.

What the heck is it and what does it fit? I need to know so I can sell the stupid thing.

Can you make it fit? Do some fiberglass work? It doesn't look like a bad ducktail at all. Small, which is a bonus.

You could have a custom mystery spoiler.

kinda looks like something for a hatch since its one piece.

It's not even remotely close to fitting :( It's a nice design, but the ends are straight and level, and sit a good 4" over the corners of a TBird decklid - 1/4 panels. I immediately thought MN12 because it's so flat and square, but it's too narrow and the trunk-curve area is a sharp angle on the spoiler (like a fox Bird trunk, not rounded like an MN12).

Too square and upright to be a 2nd Gen Trans Am (those trunks lay down like a Porsche 911). I thought 3rd Gen or hatch as well, but it's too narrow.

I wonder if the seller thought it was for an XR-7 and it's for an RX-7. It's starting to look like it would fit an FC (2nd Gen).

I wish I could find a stupid Xenon catalog or something online to look at pictures.

looks kinda like a lip spoiler from a bmw 3 series from the 80s, but those are foam/rubber.
did you try contacting xenon with the picture? maybe they can identify it without the part#

Hmm...
First thing i thought was MN12... :hick:
Maybe Cougar instead of T-Bird? wouldn't think there would be much of a difference though.

And i did some searching around online, And the closest things i found were these 2:

But they are way too squared at the edges.

The 2nd gen f-bodies spoiler is much taller, and is 3 piece.
