What's the difference between the two? Is the Headlamp LENS just that? The lens? I'm curious because I've decided on purchasing a left side headlight to match my junkyard found right side one (found it NEW -- $10)
Part Number: E8OY-13007-B BULB ASY HD/LMP-LH $132.68
Part Number: E8OY-13007-A LP ASY HD/LP $129.52
According to the Ford person I spoke to on the phone concerning all this the "Composite Assy" will come with adjusters......
I was also under the impression that the Cougar and T-bird lights/lenses are different. I have a set of T-bird lenses laying around....They APPEAR identical to the eye...
If they ARE different why the same part # then? A revision perhaps midyear?

Cougar lights are different than T-Bird lights. I don't know why those part numbers would be the same. There's a bunch of Cougar owners out there that WISH the lights interchanged, as new T-Bird lights are readily available on eBay.

I don't have parts books newer than 1986 so I can't say.
It is possible that the 13007 part number is for the outer lamp assembly and the 13008 is for the headlight?

By outer lamp I assume you mean the side markers.
The side markers for the Cougars and T-birds for 87-88 have different part#'s Side marker lamp assy part #'s are as follows:
Right: E7WY-13200-A Left: E7WY-13201-A
THESE are Cougar specific according to the same source.
The T-bird side markers are as follows:
Right: E7SZ-13200-A Left: E7SZ-13201-A
Now by this logic and knowing the part #'s are different I would think that the actual headlamp #'s would be different. I'm at a loss for why they are the same. I don't want to order the wrong one at around $160.

Still look the same???
Upper is a RH for Coug, lower same for Bird
Bird lenses are E7SZ-13007-A & 13008-A... Lense only, without bucket & adjuster assly...

Perfect! Thanks! Just holding a lens up to an installed headlight was all I had to go by. The pic shows the difference nicely. Thanks again!
Also, Those #'s are for the lens or lens & bucket? Just trying to get a little more clarification and see if this guy I had on the phone was worth his salt or not...
Looking through all this now I realize perhaps it should be in the Body/Appearance Section....My apologies. Feel free to move it if needed;)

I'm 99% sure without bucket... The xxx07 & xxx08 differentiates L & R... The Suffix A/B, etc indicates a difference with the part it's self...
I believe part # with/without, are in the FAQ section over on NATO... But that don't mean Mercury didn't swap meanings for the A/B...
BTW the Lincoln Continentals do use the same headlamps as Cougar...

Hmm. By reading the headlight section you referred it SOUNDS as if they come with the bucket, just not the adjusting unit.....

To replace the lights, pull the halogen headlight bulb (DO NOT TOUCH the bulb with your fingers or it will burn out in a short period of time) out of the back of the lamp (don't loosen the screw on retainer lock) and remove the in-board parking lamp (between headlight and grille). If headlight alignment is OK, there is no need to TOUCH THE ADJUSTOR SCREWS AT ALL, just release the mounting bolts behind the header panel, undo the lamp and pull the whole headlamp and adjuster unit out in one piece. If you have examined the assembly, and noticed that the adjuster screws need replacement, here are the part numbers for those pieces:
(2 for each headlamp)#E7SZ-13032-C ($5.44 ea.) (1 for each headlamp)#E7SZ-13032-D ($5.41 ea.)
There is no need to buy the whole headlamp assembly since it will end up being far more expensive than purchasing the needed parts separately. To continue, you will see 3 twist locks on the back of the adjuster panel. Turn them to open (they are hard to turn, brittle, and may need replacement!) and the old plastic headlamp will separate from the adjuster plate. Re-install the new headlamp on the adjuster plate, twist the locks closed and bolt the unit in place. Re-install inner marker light and check the headlamp alignment and you can see at night again! It's a very easy repair and will make a 100% difference.
That $45 price is dead on for the T-bird as well. Figures the Cougar ones would be almost 3 times the price:toilet:

As I understand it the bucket and lens is complete with adjusters, ready to install... I Kinda screwed up on the first post...
I'll go do a edit...
BTW Adjuster parts should be avail individually...

Eric stated on Cool Cats they were the same, at least he used to have that info (haven't looked lately)...
Maybe it's just the lense assembly that's the same with a different mounting bracket...

Upon a double-check it seems the Conti part #'s DO IN FACT MATCH.
Guess I typed something in wrong the first time :toilet:
Here's the info if you type in these #'s under a Lincoln parts search:

Cougars were the first to have those headlamps so they got a 1987 (E7) part number. Once the 1988 Continental came out and used the same lights, the E8 p/n superceded the E7 one. They are still the same headlights, regardless.

I am using your list.;) By typing in the part #'s from it onto the other site, it came up with the results about the Cougars and T-birds having the same headlight.
I was told the same thing over the phone, but that the sidemarkers and parking lamps are model specific.
They also have this disclaimer

Well, an update...
Guess who stopped making these headlights?!? I found one, new, in TEXAS with the adjusters for $277!
I coughed up for it....I'm sick of looking for one used in good condition.

Well if you add the two together plus the Vaseline it averages out to $151... You probably would not have been too unhappy with that price...
