I'm a student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, upstate New York. The arts department is hosting the debut of a video game in which you play the part of a terrorist with the goal of killing the President of the United States.
I just can't believe this is gonna fly. I hope they get plenty of angry emails, I'm sending one myself. Hopefully they'll reconsider this.
I dunno I feel like this is something most of us could agree is absurd, disrespectful, and 100% unnecessary.
Part of the write-up:
"In the face of a war that stretches on, the 2005 deaths of his brother and father and the violence his own history, Bilal seeks to imbue his audiences with a sense of empowerment that comes from hope in the enduring potential of humanity...." "...I work to create awareness among those that would not normally be aware, to give voices to the voiceless, and to bring them peace."
HUH? "Peace" huh? Yup right way to go about it bro!
And yes it's his right to free speech I hate people being shut up because their views might not be popular but this is something else altogether IMO. Ugh.
What a crock. Dollars to doughnuts they're freaked because mean ol' Bush took the money away to spend on the war, money that could be spent on them instead. Ask the people in the arts department how many of them think Socialism is a good idea and that might tell you something. They're not freaked because of war, they're freaked because of its cost.
For MY $0.02, living in the shadow of Philly for 31 years has taught me one thing: despite the great cost of war spending, I'd rather see it put into a big pile and set on fire before spending it on the kinds of things the people in that arts department would prefer instead.
Well I wouldnt be surprised THOUGH it's worth mentioning that they actually have close to a net worth of 1 BEEEEEELION dolluurzz. Yeah thats NOT b.s. Actually I almost wonder if I ought to even be sharing that, I know someone who knows someone in there its "2nd generation" not some crazy chain but he knows the facts and the school has PLENTY of money. Maybe it's the higher ups' depriving that dept. I dunno. All do know is tuition went UP like hell this year!
I'm with ya tho on all that.
awesome. in a world of and tubgirl, somebody can still piss off a whole lotta people without hurting anyone. :P
THAT, imo, is art. :P
if you have found yourself wondering "what are they thinking"
dont be too alarmed, its becoming normal as many of those like the old saying goes,, "f'd up and got promoted"
you better just join the "team" cause if you dont, then you will have less backup. Not too many people around anymore speaking from thier hearts because they dont know how to listen.
here's one for you that tells you exactly the direction "those who f'd up and got promoted" are pushing us towards....................
On MTV 2, there was a commercial of a guy who was in front of a computer simulating the making of a UTube video. He dropped his pants,, you could see the dark area around his privates. He took bolt cutters and claimed he would be famous after he cut his thing off. And,,,, He actually went through the motions of doing this.
This commercial was mid afternoon.
What were they thinking?
They were not thinking, they (in charge of said MTV2) are the managers who F'd up and got promoted.
You can do one of two things,,,
1-Stand >>>YOUR<<<< ground
2-Join the ever growing stupidity.
There are three kinds of people in the world.......
Those who want things to happen
Those who make things happen
and.....
Those who stand around wondering WTF just happened.
where are you at?
