Looking for a better caliper for 84 tbird. I'm looking for a cheap upgrade while I dig up the tc parts to go 11".
Is there a mustang duel piston or something like that avail?
Thanks,
Ken
mark7 has dual calipers I think...
"Calipers
You will need brand new calipers for this conversion; don't skimp and try to use junkyard pieces. They're best for using for a core when you get new ones. Remanufactured calipers are fairly inexpensive and cost-efficient. Again you can use calipers from a 1987-88 Turbo Coupe or 1987-93 Mustang V8. The Mark VII is a much heavier car than a Mustang or TC, with the same size front brakes. As a result, the piston in the caliper for a Mark VII is bigger (73mm) vs. the Mustang/TC piston. This provides better stopping power, while still using the same caliper, dimensionally."

I guess there not duel's, but they seem to be a bigger bore.
sure do......for 11" brakes.....
OK so the mark IV are the smaller 10" ? And the calipers have a bigger piston right? I just got a stock rebuilt one I'll go back to autozone tomorrow and compare with the mark IV one's.
I did this type of upgrade with my 78 bronco and worked great (calipers from a f 350 have bigger piston)
I think with drilled /slotted rotors and performance friction z pads will be all i need. I think the 11 conversion is a little overkill unless racing.
I'll post results later in week.
Thanks,
Ken
No, Marks have the 11" front brake with the big bore caliper, TC's and Mustangs have 11" brakes with the regular bore caliper.
Yea just checked that. They are 11".
So there is nothing better to switch to without changing spindles, ect to the 11" setup.
No.
And it's Mk VII.... not Mk IV
OK that was the answer I was looking for. I'll be hitting up the local used parts stores in the morning looking for the 11" stuff.
Thanks,
Ken
