Title: Radio Installation Made Easy
Post by: Its1FastCat on February 22, 2008, 02:14:02 AM
Advance Auto has finally started to stock the Metra AutoWorks radio harness adaptor to install an aftermarket head unit into the dash of the 88 and older cars with the premium sound system.  It adapts the radio to the wiring harness in the dash and bypasses the amplifier in the trunk.

Part number is: CK-WHFPS
The package only lists the Tech line to call if you want to find out which vehicles it will work with.  I called about my cougar and he told me 88 and older with the equalizer premium system.  It may fit more but you will have to call the following number:
1-800-253-TECH

Wow, that's good to know - thanks for posting.

I am getting a little tired of having the left channel cut-out when I take a right turn :hick:

In the past I have spent the time to trace the wiring and hook a head unit into the equalizer.  It sounded great but I had to replace almost all of the factory speakers because of the increase in power.

As I have become wiser about electricity I now realize that that could have causes some problems if I would have made a mistake.  When I found this adapter I was thrilled because I drive my car to Car Craft Summer Nationals every summer and without a CD player I get tired of waiting for a good driving song to come on the radio.

Here our price is also 19.95.
