Title: 87 Thunderchicken Running Rich HELP..
Post by: R4WTHUND3R on February 17, 2008, 11:28:43 AM
Well i'm new to the Ford world so i'm a little dumb on this.I changed my tranny in my bird witch has a 5.0 in it i went to a C6 Tranny.Well after the job was done i went to bring her home and found out that she won't idle and she is running way to rich.Mind you she ran fine before the tranny swop so i have no idea what the heck went wrong.

I've tryed everything and anything i could think of so now i'm so close to just burning it to the ground LOL.Although when i get her to go down the street when i stomp on her the power is right there but won't idle and is running way to rich i have done full tune up.PLEASE HELP.:beatyoass:

No there were no 02's on it and it ran perfect.I would like to get it running right cause it was one bad ass running ride.Although if i can not get it figured out i might just sell it and the system that is in it and find a diff v8 lol but i just love the way these birds look and besides my brother is building a monte carlo and now he is talking  about it clipping my birds wings lol

You have to have O2 sensors. How about the FPR?

Fuel pressure regulator=FPR I think vin is saying maybe your fuel pressure is out of wack
if there is no O2 sensors in the exhaust it will screw up the computer big time.

If its fuel injected, there are O2 sensors. End of story.

There should be two O2 sensors on the car.If your car has stock exhaust manifolds, they should be on the back of them, screwed in with small harnesses coming off of them.Perhaps the O-2 harness was unplugged.Did you remove the TV cable?

First off let me start by saying WOW WOW WOW this site rocks.I followed what everyone said starting with vacume lines connected any that were not connected.Started the car still no go running rich and not idleing. So i tapped on the fuel reg and looked for the map sensor to check plug well i found it and what do i find????A vac line not connected to the map so i hook it up start the bird and she purrs again no smoke idle's on her own smooth as a "BABY'S BUTT".So thank you to everyone that help i'm hooked to this site now TY:burnout:

Your motor SHOULD resemble this if EFI.....You most likely don't have the MAF though;)
