Title: Star Wars Guages!!!
Post by: tc² on February 09, 2008, 12:23:11 AM
Ok, I searched the whole Electrical Tech section of the forum and not one, NOT ONE person wants to go from buttstuffog to digital.  My brother has an '87 XR-7 and I love the way his guages look.  I know if I ever wanted to swap (which is a long shot) that I need a few new senders.  I'm more concerned with the tach being innaccurate.  Is there anyway to recalibrate a digital tach?

I made this conversion 3 years ago on My '85 bird, from buttstuffog guauges (except speedometer) to a full digital cluster, It's a little lot of job to do, I found the full info at the Eric coolcats website for the wiring.

And used a temp and oil sensor forom a salavged '89 Cougar V6, and a unknown fuel guage sender module (I guess it's from the same cougar).

The only thing don't work on My bird it's an instant economy feature, cauz it's a carbed engine I have, and never found the &**() fuel flow sensor for that.

This job is not very hard, but Looong if You want to do a great looking job, and a lot of Junkyard hunting.

After this it look and work great, I never regret this swap.

Regards,

Dom.

Ok, thanks.

Yea I guess I could've searched a little more specific lol.  I just searched cluster swap...

Again, this is just an idea at the moment.  Sounds like a little work needs to be done.

Thanks for the input!
