I just completed the 5 lug conversion on the front wheels of my 84. I used 95 spindles, 99 calipers & hoses, sn95 inner and outer tie rods. My question is did anyone have a problem with the tie rods bottoming out when adjusting them?
I have the outer tie rods turned all the way in and still have the front wheels toed out. I am hoping I can take care of this when I align it. If not the only thing I can do is cut a 1/2" to an 1" of thread off each inner.
I went with a less flashy look. I used 15x6.5 1990 Lincoln Towncar steel wheels with 235/60R15. I painted them up semi-flat with chrome lugnuts. I have 15x10 steel chrysler wheels for the rear. I hope I can fit all that wheel under the ass end. 295/50R15 on the rear.
I will post pics of the front soon.

I cut off a little bit on my inners when I did my conversion. Thread a couple of nuts on, lock them down and use a cutoff wheel up against the outer nut. Take the nuts off and the cutoff threads will clean right up.
Why would you go 5 lug then use steel wheels?????????????????????
You should have just used stang 15" 4 lug steel wheels!!!
bigger, better brakes maybe? ;)
5lug steels are also easier to find, we just had that discussion (http://"http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=17681&highlight=steel+wheel%2A")....
Stangs never had 15" steelies. Only 14".
steels are a classic look expecially if accented by chrome lugnuts or dog dish hubcaps. post some pics if u can. Are u goin wth a retro look overall or just waiting to get alloys? id like to see a retro bird flat black with steels siting up high in the rear and maybe sidepipes. it would be a one of a kind.
