Title: WTH, Superchips bad?
Post by: P71 on February 05, 2008, 01:08:20 AM
I posted on CVN about how much better the 'Vic is with the tune and got hit by a ton of bricks! They're saying it's going to ruin my trans (increased line pressure) and my engine (lean part-throttle).

I have never heard of this before on any car? Yet it seems to only affect CV's/MGM's? They keep telling me I should buy a SCT from one of their vendors! I smell a rat!

I'm looking for some help! (PAUL!!)

Never heard of that i was just thinking i would get a SCT chip because theres a place in town that can program them. Sounds like they just want some extra cash.

I've never heard anything like that.  I would search some other Panther sites to see the consensus....Vendors are pushed on another site I visit as well....  The last time I checked, quite a few guys have thrown bone stock 4R-70W's into '03-04 Cobras (I have pics of one with a rather large Kenne Bell blower and 600+ HP) that are fine....Doesn't the J-mod for an AOD-E and 4R-70W increase line pressure?

I'd also call Superchips and see just how much pressure this adds to the main line....Too much can be bad of course, but the 4r can take a ton of abuse and I doubt that the settings in your tuner are too much.

You're a lifesaver Paul! Guess I need to keep my head down until I have ET #s for those guys.
