Title: 5 speed and speedo question.....
Post by: vinnietbird on January 31, 2008, 11:33:28 PM
The Mustang used a speedo cable,my car has no cable (we all know that already). When I install the 5 speed,do I just use the speed sensor from the AOD with the appropriate gear? Also, will Mustang loer and upper shift boots work on our cars?

Yeah just put your sensor in the mustang tail shaft.  If you look at your VSS you can see where it is actually cast for cable attachment.  Cable speedo cars used the same VSS casting for feedback to the EEC (those that require it) and cruise control.  The mustang lower boot will work yes.  The sn95 lower boot will work too but the holes are in the wrong spot to bolt to the floor.

The gear does need changed.  The shaft on the end of the gear is a different length for auto and manual.
