I knew they were using regular GT's, but earlier reports said they were fitted with GT500 body kits and aftermarket SC's. Turns out only ONE of the cars has a Supercharger, the KR hood used on the 'Attack' version is a fake too. But the fact that any are V6's and that the Attack KITT is a stock GT takes every bit of cool (which I never say anyway) out of this car.
This is a failure already.

"While the various KITTs may look like GT500KRs, they're actually regular GTs or have V6s under their skin. And except for one equipped with a supercharger, their power plants were left stock for the film work."

Figures... I guess there's only so much you can expect from Hollywood...
Although I guess it's a good thing they're not tearing up GT500KR's.
I'm not surprised. Many General Lee's were slant 6 cars.
exactly
So they have one for power when they need a power type shot, why would they worry about the others having power for when they are like crusing down main street gabbing with the car or something.
This is film and hollywood folks... one shot could be crusing down main at 30 then the director yells "CUT... Power Car" and the next shot shows it getting a mega burn out. On this side of the screen we never know the differance. This stuff happens all the time even with people... "CUT Stunt Double"
let me burst anouther bubble for some of you... In Hollywood the engine sound will often be dubbed in also
/GASP!!!
I still think it's trash, but what can we expect from Knight Rider? I can't believe they're even still trying.
I can't decide which feels less like KITT. This Mustang (with the Cobra emblems still showing............. which never belonged on the cars to start with) or this Mitsu monstrosity.

Its just a tv show...
I'm doubtin' that one... AFIK Chargers were NOT available with a 6...
Now IF you'd said 318, I'd agree...

Gotta give Tom credit...for his age, at least part of his memory still works correctly. :flip:
Anyhoo...whilst I'm here, guess I gotta throw in...to me it's a shame that a Gen4 F-body wasn't used for the new KITT. I mean, KITT
IS a Firebird, and vice versa. Growing up with the original, as cheesy as it may have been, at the time it was semi-cool and that leaves an indelible mark. It was swoopy, it was sleek, and part of the charm was that people in the show had NO idea what the car was...so there was a built-in stealth factor. The Mustang is just too recognizable. And it's not like we needed yet
another version of the Mustang, fercrissake. So I guess you can tell who's in bed with whom now...
But back on subject.: remember that the current V6 Mustang is more powerful than the V8 Mustang of 15 years ago. ;)
And kills it in hp/liter. :D
GM paid up and changed the Transformers to GM vehicles.
Ford paid up and changed KITT to a Mustang.
Fair enough......... except for the fact that Transformers was epic, and Knight Rider 20561645 will be a giant corn-fest of a made for TV movie. David Hasselhoff is actually going to be in it....... what more can I say?
Wow, these two ventures are saying a lot about the two Auto giants right now. Great metaphor. GM spends a shiznit load of money on one of the best movies in years, and Ford sacrifices a few GT and base Mustangs for something that in itself will be an epic failure.
Yes, I'm bored as hell. ;)
Jus remembr, fore I got old and started messin with these Grandma cars, I played with real ones...:D
In the '60s/70s MOST of the full sized and intermediate sporty packages/models included a V8 std... SS Impalas got a 283 then 307, XL Galaxies also got 289/302s All Torino GTs had V8 std...
Road Runners got a 4bbl 383 as the base engine... Ford countered with the Fairlane Cobra with 428CJ and 4 speed std...In '70 The Cobra was upped to Torino status with three different 429s available, a grandma Tbird/LTD version as base, CJ and Super CJs as optional... In '71 the base 429 was replaced by a 4bbl Cleveland as base engine...
No 6cyl was ever available in the '67-'73 Cougars, or the '74-'76 Montego versions...
Tom was so proud of his first brand new car:

That's very subjective, man...I slept through part of it. That movie SUCKED. At the time it was good PR for GM but now...not so much.
who cares, its a tv show. its ALL affects anyway. did you know superman couldnt realy fly....yeah. they had to fake that.
I call BS in that. We Reeve(s) Supermen can all fly. :burnout:
I dunno about that... I can think of one who can't even walk. Or even breathe, now he's dead. Or, come to think of it, breathe before he died.
Oh, , did I really just say that?
Someone just gave him too much sunscreen. Kryptonite Sunscreen! You know that's where Superman gets his power. Have you seen how pale that guy was? The same for George Reeves. Look at any episode, and I challenge you to see any pinkish hues on his face.

We all knew KITT wasn't really a GT500KR, or even a GT500, but at least he's still whipplecharged :)
And 400 pounds lighter with 450+ RWHP if tuned correctly. Throw in a set of 3.73's and drag radials and you'll rip off an 11.6 with a good driver. Faster than a stock GT500......
Well...aside from the ridiculous amount of commercial breaks, and the fact that the entire show was a 2-hour-long commercial for Ford...it didn't suck as bad as I thought it would. It has more potential than the pathetic "Bionic Woman" did, at least.
Plus it had The Hoff. All hail The Hoff! :headbang:
And that is Sidney Portier's daughter as the FBI agent. Not expecting the same performances from her as her father, considering the show, but she's very nice eye candy.
I just watched the "movie".Not as bad as I thought it would be.Not great, but better than some of the other out there.I have to admit,I did enjoy watching the car more than I did the old Trans Am from years ago.
agreed ;)
Bahhh... after i saw the Hoff show up, I wanted to see him drive off in the origonal KITT.
The thing is--and this is very smart marketing--the show has pretty much kept the door open for the original KITT to appear at some point in the future (read: when the ratings really slump badly). It appears to be in pieces and under a cover. The engine is partially opened up. But a good mechanic can put him back together in a weekend. And what do you know, Mike just happens to be a mechanic... ;)
I fell asleep before it came on. I am sure my sleep was more enjoyable than if I would have watched it.
i liked it now when are we geting a new magyver
the kitt cars sound sucks in my opinon. a stock gt sounds better
