will the mark7 tank work in the vert it decided to develop a leak .....these ohio cars:mad:
bump.....
from the ones I've seen physically it will fit but the mark7 has a single fuel pump and fuel level sender in the together, as a thundercougar has separate ones. so maybe yes with some wiring mods
I was gonna add that the parts disc I got shows the Tbird and Cougar as the same, and the Mark VII and Continental as the same. But like Cougarman says, physically they might fit.
i used an 88 thunderbird fuel tank in my 83 (the 88 has the fuel pump and the sending unit in seperate holes)... the tank was a gallon or so bigger so the strap bolts didn't tighten as far, but it has the same shape as the cfi one and hasn't given me any problems in over a year.... the pics i saw of an 84 mark vii fuel tank show it as having the intigrated cfi fuel pump/sending unit design like my 83 did.....
i think you have multiport in the 85, so an 85 or later mark VII tank should work (it has the seperate holes)--- it looks the same as the one i got from the 88.... they say the mark used the same fuel tank from 85 to 96, but i'm not sure......
hope this helps
The '86 LSC I had used the exact same tank as the '87-'88 TC, just had to swap sending units and pump assembly's...
I believe the '86-earlier birds used a smaller tank... Likely could be swapped as long as you use the correct straps and cover...
1986-88 Cougar/Thunderbird (not the 1986 XR7/TC though)
1987-88 Turbo Coupe
1986-up Mark VII, as mentioned, but be careful of the sending unit/pump arrangement
Basically do not go earlier than 1986 and you will be fine.
my 88 tank came as a t bird unit same with the straps. fuel pump and and sender are seperate

opps im sorry about the caps i forgot they where on
Aw ...I keep forgetting you have an '85, Bear. Yeah, a 1984-85 tank is probably what you want then.
