I've been lurking forever and PMing back and forth with one of the members about his SN-95 brake swap. He said I should post pics of my car, so here it is (I only have one pic, but I'll take more as I go). Sorry about the quality. It's a scan. Next time I have the car out I'll snap something better.
It's an '83 with 60,000 original miles. It has a Lentech AOD and an 8.8 from a Fox Mustang with 3.73s, an Auburn posi and Hotchkis control arms. Right now it's on Eibach Pro Kit coils, but I'm going to all coilovers when I do the disc brake swap.
At present it's still got the killer 153 horse CFI 302, but a 331 will be in the works shortly. I wanted to get the whole driveline/suspension/brake thing done first. Anyway, this is it...

slick
nice, IMO it'd look better with tinted windows.
Welcome! That's an ultra nice 83 you've got there. I think you're making the right decision doing the engine last. You'll be happier being able to put the power down on the ground.
It still amazes me the amount of people that put high HP engines in cars with stock auto trannys and peg leg rear ends with 2.73 gears... and then wonder why their 400 HP combo will only run high 14's.
Welcome and very nice Bird
Nice lookin Bird you got there !
Nice choice of wheels.
+1 on the tint.
Welcome, That pic looks like it came out of a ford brochure
Nice car. It'll be happy with the new engine.
I'm impressed! Someone with the patience to do the motor last. Kudos and Welcome!
Sharp T-Bird, those tips look great with your wheels.
Hey Chris! Glad you got your first post up! I think you'll really like the people on here. Keep the pics and posts coming. You should keep us updated from here on out. Like I already said, I totally dig your car and it'll be fun to see it's progress from the great position you already have it in!
Very nice T-bird. Welcome aboard!
o man
im in love
I wouldnt change anything about that car
Sweet ride man!!! What wheels are those?
Thanks for the warm welcome, guys.
Don't think I am smart enough to do the motor last without screwing up a few times first. My last really modified car was a '88 Mustang GT. I bought it new and dove right into the motor without beefing anything else up first. I broke a lot of parts. Before I finally sold it, when I would launch it on slicks the sunroof and glovebox door would fly open. I'm not making that mistake again.
They're 16" Weld Billet Wheels, but I don't remember the model name. When I do the SN-95 brake swap, they'll be coming off.
Don't feel bad. I still do it!!! I'm at a point on both cars now where it's absolutely useless to do any more engine mods without first adressing traction issues....And I've done so on both already to boot! It's a vicious cycle...
so they are four lug?
That's a sweet lookin' ride!
I myself did the motor first. Only because I needed to get her running.
As a wise man once said... "Speed without the suspension is deadly."
nice birdie...I'm startin to dig the four eyed birds and welcome aboard !!!!
I wouldnt change anything about that car
I would, the title would have my name! :D
Very nice...more pics
Nice rig, man. The wheels look great. Welcome.
Yup, four lug. That's why they'll be going elsewhere.
Nice ride. Where are you from?
Jim
Sweet :D
Just outside of Annapolis Maryland. Born and raised in Philly, though. In fact, just made myself a nice cheesesteak.:D I have a little farm in Souderton, if you know where that is.
Went to Souderton High School!
Our place fronts 113, just north of 309. Small world.
You're not kidding. I was just by there this weekend.
Look what I came across today. A pic from when I first started roughing in the body. Doesn't look like a 60,000 mile gem, huh? Well it had a rough life on the streets of North Philadelphia, but the mechanical and interior condition was perfect...

Dang man, you did a killer job. It's really cool that you kept your car's history documented that way. I need to get better at snapping pics as I work.
So how's the 5-lug swap going?
Hey welcome to the board, where abouts in Philly you from?
Well, after talking with you I kinda got re-energized. I decided if I was going to do it, I was going to do it right. I bought the Cobra brake set-up for all four wheels. Still haven't turned one bolt, but I'm amassing a very nice collection of shiny parts.
Grew up in Juniata Park. Went to Frankford High.
I'm in southwest near the airport area. Car is looking good, keep the pics coming!
