I post here and have met up with these guys
http://www.listangs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17684
I think it's high time we got the word out about ourselves. We need a game plan. Let's brainstorm! Post your ideas!
What we NEED is a magazine that gives a rat's ass about these cars. Then we might expect some recognition ;)
I happy with not having much recognition. Keeps the idiots (most of them) away.
or atleast an article in a magazine every now and then:hick:
I think getting a gameplan together would get us just that! Most people will still steer towards the Mustang anyway IMHO, but I think some recognition would open some eyes up and make some people appreciate these cars for what they are and what they can be.
how many mustangs are out there vs thunderbirds? specifically in the realm of car enthusiasts? We could get some of the birds and cougars in an article but i doubt we'd ever have a magazine dedicated to it. i'd just like to see some Thunderbird and cougar stuff in like mustangs and fast fords or something...
but do you want every 15yr old kid wanting a thunderbird just to ize them like mustangs have been done for so long now?
Exactly! There are less and less Cougs and T-Birds around as time goes by. We don't need brats to help them disappear quicker and steal our glory! :cougarsmily: :birdsmily:
Again. Just looking for an article every now and again. Not a dedicated mag. That's a pipe dream...
I already told you guys.We need to get a lot of pics of the cars, and, burnout shots (magzines LOVE burnout shots, especially from cars that aren't necessarily seen in that manner)from everyone, details about each car partiting, and info about the owner.THEN,we take all of this info, and send one big package to MMFF and 5.0 magazines. We make it very clear that we are all members of this forum/organization.Surely they'd get around to doing something with us.
i think vinnie might be on to something. i work at a parts store a you would not believe how many times i say thunderbird or cougar and the customer gives me a look of why would you want to do that. thats when i show them under the hood and then they get the idea. one guy that used to work with me told me i was nuts in front of some of his buddies, he didn't know that they were my old highschool buddies. one of them piped up and said i had an 87 tc and it ripped ass. the guy i worked with just shut up. i was like yeah buddy take that.
On to something? That's right I'm on to something. Now,we have to organize everything and take a little time to get it done right.Overwhelm the Stang mags.
Happened with my car after I hit the deer and even before. I told my friends in highschool I would revive it and they laughed and told me to junk that POS. Came back 3 years later on leave showed them under the hood revved it and of course it was painted and had turbines lookin good. They were speechless. It was worth the 3 year wait.
Everyone knows the Sport when we pull into the Autozone parking lot.I get the occassional,"What is that?" remark.THAT is why we need to make this happen.Give it til summer and get organized (also, that gives me time to get the Sport finished),LOL.
check out Ford builder... it features MN12's, and fox birds, and is currently building a 400hp Supercoupe
I'll get a good burnout shot, soon as the snow melts.
I honestly believe that if I pulled my car out and drove it around, most people in this area wouldn't even know what it is. so far to date, I've seen 1 on the road. I do quite a bit of driving, but I never see any.
I'm up for the recognition part, but I don't want us to become pen 15y (like most mustang people) about it.
How would we become "pen 15y" when we already know our cars are cooler than the Stangs?LOL !!!
It was the posts before combined with the article that got me going.
So, owner and car info......I guess a little blurb written by the owner with a few photos (to include the tire roasting). Anything else?
In everyone's bio, include that they (we) are a member of this forum, and slightly hint at the fact that thse cars can do anything a Stang can do with a few mods, and that the potential of these cars are so great.Planting seeds in the magazine writer's minds and hoping they'll grow..
How about restoration and modding to really show we're not messing around.
Sorry thats all I got right now.
I think if we get enough cars from this forum,it'll show a vast difference in our cars, and what can be done with them.We have everything here from basiclally stock,H.O cars,Turbo cars, slightly modded to heavily modded.I doubt that any magazine would use every car,but in greater numbers, our chances of getting a few into the magazine(s) is pretty good.I say by the end of June.I know that's a while from now,but it gives everyone (yes, including me) a chance to get the car clean, finished and prepped. With the winter months here,it also leaves time to find some nicer places to take pics at.Green trees and green grass everywhere.A LOT of us are working on our cars.June is just an idea that I'm tossing out there.Anytime that the group as a whole can decide on is cool.
um MM&FF do know about these cars and they love the four eyed birds.... they have actually talked about building one sometime.... just send emails to Evan and bug him to build a fox bird....
If someone makes an impressive enough FTC then it has a chance of getting into a mag anyway, but there aren't enough people with these cars modifying them nor enough money being dropped into them like so many Mustang owners.
I agree.I figure if 20 different cars all show up at once, that brings attention.
Okay then, if we got enough people together to do this, it has to be done in a uniform manner.
Things people may want to include ifo-wise:
-Name
-City/State
-How long you've owned the car
-What shape was it in when you got it?
-What have you done to restore/preserve it?
-Any performance mods?
-Any off the wall/interesting stories which the car is key in?
-Pics (including a good smoke show if you can do so in a safe location)
I can part with one of my 2008 Calendars for this as well.
Anybody got a 2007 with absolutely no marks on it they care to donate to the cause?
I'll just send in a pic of my sig .....\/ LOL
speaking of that, the stang is being parted, so if you need anything.... PM me...
Which steering wheel does it have?
I've got some before shots.I still need to get this thing done so i can have some "after" pics. When are we setting the due date for everything?I'm saying June because of a couple of reasone,I can have mine done by then, two, grass and trees will be green and I can take good pics, three,it gives everyone plenty of time to make some things happen. There are a lot of us building right now.
June 1 st. I'm on vacation for 3 weeks after that and I can compile everything.
You know Carlisle weekend would be a great opportunity for everyone to meet up and get group shots of our cars. It's the next best thing to CatJam to show force in numbers.
Geesh I'd have to finish my intake swap and exhaust upgrade by June and get a burn out pic for you? that's a lot to ask lol ;)
I should probably get some track times too.....
All I have to do is install the cam,heads,5 speed, finish the body work and get the Sport painted......sounds good to me!!!
Vinnie, after all that. Take 10 min. to relax. lol
Don't be dismayed by not being done if the time comes and there is still some work to do! Send whatever you can! Project cars show enthusiasm as well!
I'll be setting up a thread with a formal request soon.....
Oh,believe me,I'll send pics of whatever I have going on when the clock stops.
I need to take a breath.I've been busting my tail to get what I need (with a small budget for the Sport). You wouldn't believe the little bits and pieces I have waiting to go on the Sport.Unreal.Now,add the 5 speed tranny to that list.I'm down to a few parts for that,a few gaskets, then, snadpaper, water, primer, paint.I'm working on this stuff in my sleep.I will probably take a day or two away from it because it can get consuming at times. Most of you already know this.
No problem with the project side, I'm pretty sure I've got that covered.
