The giants are in it so it’s more fun this year can’t believe they made it to the NFC championship.
Since we are nation wide lets see who’s going for who.

edit +1 for the giants

Nothing against Newfoundlanders, but I just don't root for anyone in particular over there.

My heart will always be with the Giants. My uncle was an offensive lineman for the Giants between 1960-69. Most pro football critics have agreed that, in the pre-AFL/NFL merger era, the Giants of the 1960s were about the best team overall. I'm proud and honored that he was one of them. It's way cool to have football cards of your dad's brother. :)

However...I think they'll be at a distinct disadvantage this weekend in Green Bay. It's supposed to be somewhere near 0 degrees F. That's Packer weather all the way.

I'd love to see the Chargers stick it to the Pats. Don't know, though...the way things have been going, it doesn't look likely.

I'm a Chargers fan, but even I have to admit the Patriots are going all the way 19-0 season. Oh well, the 'Bolts had a good season (the Jags did too, but they were already mauled by the juggernaut that is NE).

Since Dallas, Pittsburg and Seattle are out I'd like to see a Chargers/Packers superbowl... Although, it would be nice to see Eli Manning get a shot at a superbowl title. I haven't decided who I'm gonna root for in the Giants/Packers game yet.

But the Pats seem to be unbeatable so I dont think it really matters who goes up against them. No-one has proven to be able to go score for score with them through 4 quarters. Thier offence cant be stopped and all thier defence has to do is force the other team to punt or kick a field goal ONE time and it's game over.

Patriots. I was born and raised in Vermont so I am not jumping on the band wagon. I liked them before anyone knew who they or the little man on their helmet was.

I'm born and raised in Minnesota, so my favorite team is the Vikings and my second favorite team is ANYONE who plays the Packers. I don't care who wins the SB, just so it's NOT Green Bay!

I think Green Bay is the only team left with an offense potent enough to hang with New England (not to mention their good CBs also).  If San Diego wasnt so riddled with injuries, I'd say they would have a legit shot too.  If the Eagles and Ravens can all but put away the Patriots, I'm sure Green Bay can close the deal.

That was an awesome game, and the Pats lost too. After all of the cheating allegations and actual fines for cheating, it was kind of nice to see them lose. They are definitely one of the best teams ever, but after all the press they've been getting and already winning three recent Superbowls, it was good to see them go down.

SUCKED you’re either miserable, hate football, drunk, or a pats fan. And if you’re a pats fan you gotta admit it was a good game. Some of my greatest games I lost though I hate to admit it.
Back to the GIANTS
I did call it I said they were going to rise to the occasion back in December not thinking the Superbowl but I did say they were going to give the pats a run for there money. And man they turned it on though they lost. Week after week I called Dallas I new they could beat them. But then green bay gotta admit no prediction my way I wasn’t feeling it but they played like winners in -10’, giants rose to the occasion man I could not believe they were going to the Superbowl.
Again heres all the experts and all who think they know more then me cause they listen to the experts. “the last game of the season was a fluke pats guard was down they ant going to happing again” “the worst thing giants could have done was piss off the pats by giving them a run for there money the last game of the season” your so called experts said this game was suppose to be a blow out HA. well nobody I mean nobody not even an expert can say this was a fluke in any way the PATRIOTS saw exactly what they were getting and they new the team they were playing nearly beat them a few weeks earlier the GIANTS earned it in every way they out play the pats ant wanted it more that’s it. I called when Brady was calling in take out and shagging w/his girlfriend staying in Manhattan, and Eli was studying plays and practicing---OKOK I said enough I can go on and on.

One more thing
Ill give the expert’s one thing
Besides for it being one of the greatest upsets (probably the greatest)
Its was the most exciting superbowl since 91’ giants vs bills 20-19 /who remembers that upset.

i made a point to my girlfriend.

I hate sports. She was dead set on the Pats winning this thing Well.... I bet a dollar and a dinner on the giants. just to piss her off... she got pen 15y when the pats got that TD towards the last few minutes.... then the giants came back and smacked the pats in the face

moral of the story... Vote for the underdog.. you might get a dinner and a dollar.

I am disappointed as a Pats fan but at least I won't have to hear about the Asterisk by their 19-0 season from all the haters if they would have won. Besides no worries! The Pats are fully capable of going through next season undefeated anyway. Next time there will be no one talking about any  Asterisk by their name.

The GIANTS were the better team in every way they had the pat number its an old expression
The pats new EXACLLY who they where playing and that is the team that nearly beat them the last game of the season. So no excuses on- they played bad or there guard was down. And as for the giant record so be-it I admit I went from a manning basher to a big fan. ELI when from zero to hero over night in NY and brought the giants with him. In every way they played like a champion and it wasn’t easy going from Tampa to Dallas to Greenway and then beating the Pats. My hat  goes of to BIG BLUE

Administrators/bosses
I wanted to add to the title to this tread congratulations to giants or something; it won’t let meedit that part.
Since the subject kind of changed.

cmon lol. the pats lost one game this year. it happned to be the last one they played thats it. they deffinetly didnt play like themselves. the giants were a frealkin wild card team for christ sake. they one, one game over the pats. they are certainly not nearly as good a team as this years pats. dont forget the pats did beat the giants in the regular season. you say barely beat but they still beat them. the giants barely beat the pats in the super bowl. that little f@g eli got lucky.

You mean the next best thing baseball “GO YANKS”

I laughed my ass off today watching the ticker tape parade on NBC I tell you NYC was rocking way more than when the yanks won but I guess that was getting kind of old anyway back to the subject. I laughed when a  field reporter tried making a joke and he  goes “earlier the crowd was chanting something w/ -Brady and the -Sox and -Boston in it, I think it went like this brady sox, brady sox, brady sox,” and then they cut him off keeping there cool and there like where going to have to let you go Rob. This was live so I was laughing my ass off. I’m sure hes got a little answering to do now. But it made me and many laugh.

I work in Manhattan and one of the proudly wore his pats hat all season and every week his smile got bigger w/no comments from no-one for the most part I’m still in disbelieve we won the superbowl this year. Anyway today I see him and the SOB got on a SOX hat on. I’m not an in your face guy but I had to ask “so where’s your pats hat” he replied “its baseball season now”...

What I still don't understand is why the Boston Globe of all papers started the Spygate thing right before the Super Bowl.  Were they trying to motivate their own team?

BTW I hate the Pats.  Greatest Super Bowl EVER!!!!

Manning breaking out of the sack and sticking it on Tyree's helmet for a completion was AWESOME!!!!!!!

Luck is when cirspoogestances you didn't plan for end up in your favor.  I think Manning planned on not getting sacked and made it happen.  I think he planned to throw the ball to Tyree and made it happen.  I think Tyree planned to catch the ball and made it happen.  No luck there, just suck there, by the Pats.

Sometimes it doesnt come down to which team has more talent on their side, it's which team comes in truly hungry for a win.  That Tyree play showed the world how badly they wanted to win that game.  The Pats simply didnt play like that.

Manning should have been sacked. It was so horrible from the defenders that a betting man might think it was rigged. I mean come on... 3 All Star Defensive linemen could not sack him THREE!

Pats blew it big time.

I don't know about the talent comment.  I would say there are only a few positions where the Pats were better.  That would be QB (and not in the SB) and #1 wide out a maybe a two or three D positions.

Giants have just as good a receiving core over all and a better running game.  And a better D line and secondary, while the Pats have a better LB core.  O-line is a wash (not in the SB, though).

Shame, I think you could do something similar for almost every close game that has ever been played. You could look at the Holding Penalty that "should have been called" or the incomplete pass that "should have been a fumble" or the 4th down spot that "should have been a first" or, well, you get the idea.  That's an interesting video, but it boils down to some guy in his living room narrating how the refs "should have kept time". If it helps Pats fans feel better, that's great, but it doesn't change who won the game. Some day, I'd like to see my Vikes having something like that to complain about....
Title: The NFL Who’s routing for who?
Post by: xjeffs on February 13, 2008, 11:06:13 PM
Yeah, that's why they lost, not cause Brady got pummeled into the turf. :screwy:

1. The refs were stopping the clock because they were preventing the Giants from quicksnapping the ball because they wanted to get the the spot right and whether he got the first down.  The Giants were waiting.

2. The Giants would've run different plays with a different amount of time on the clock and scored sooner.

posted this more or less too see what everyone thinks of it. further more, ill gladly say it again. pats played like sh@ and earned what they got. a loss. if they played that game like they played earlier in the season with some athority the game would have gone very different.

Yeah you can say all you want about the refs not keeping time or whatever...but the clock has NOTHING to do with the Patriots defense doing what it needed to do:  stop the Giants.  They had a couple of 3rd and long opportunities and even a 4th down they could have put the Giants away on.  They didnt.  The clock had NOTHING to do with it.  The Patriots just didn't get it done.

PS - LOL @ Hitler

And LOL @ that kid in the clock video saying that Coughlin should have been penalized for touching the ref...i guess he didnt see that game several weeks back where Brett Farve gave a ref about 10 high 5s after a TD pass...no penalty there either.
