I am just wondering if this is legit-please read e-mail to me attatched below. I've considered selling my 88' (yes, as nice a shape as it is in and almost no rust), but not 100% just yet. The facts on the car:
Good:
100% Stock XR7 (except radio)
112,000 on Odometer - Car originaly from New Orleans area- bought 3 years ago.
Rust free body - except where someone broke into car and small damage on drivers door
Tires in great shape
Heater core, radiator and hoses replaced.
Air conditioner still works, but needs filled, and has the NEW air system already installed as well. Car was kept garaged and very well taken care of before I bought it. Paint still shines after a good waxing as well.
Suspension kept up by original owner
Bad:
Needs a bit exhaust work-yet to look into
During moist weather and sitting for short times, sputters/stalls a bit until car is warmed up a litlle.
Interior almost perfect except for hood release hangs loose.
One other small issue - Car has been hit in rear at one time, causing a leak into the trunk - recent (had to seal to keep from damaging fuel sending unit.
I think that's it-1 more-drivers door window is not working
If legit, what anyone thinks its worth?
You could possibly go through the Armed Forces to verify his story... if he is willing to identify himself via his Military service number...
Yeah dude sell it, from the looks of your sig people can't even walk on the sidewalk in front of your house lol.
If he is a scammer he's done his homework (talking about having previously owned a Blue Max). That being said, have you ever indicated anywhere that you might be willing to sell it? If not it seems kind of odd that somebody would message you out of the blue like that...
Regardless, to protect yourself remember the golden rule: CASH ONLY. Cashier's checks, money orders, etc, are all too easy to fake to be trusted.
Vic if you sell that car I get first dibs! But you can't sell it!
it's probably legit... I have emailed a few people around here from cardomain, asking them to sell.....
As long as its not Ali Baba trying to send you 1 million for your car, the rest you send back to him. It seems like a legit email.
look what I found.
Messages to our Sky Soldiers in Afghanistan.Fits his story to a tee.
Found his 55 meter hurdle times too. From the University of Findley OHIO. 2001
Looks like he went to high school from 1996-2000 in Carey OH.
I wouldn't say he's not legit. But, was his email address .army.mil or another .mil type address?
He would not be using a .com email address.
Thanks for the replies guys. Main reason I'm thinking of selling is because I would like to at least enjoy the other cars that i own before the age of 50, and before the cougar 50th anniversery and so forth. I really do have more cats in my bag than I can deal with. Then of course there is always the idea of owning an early model kitty as well. I would also like to go to CatJam with at least a few $$$ in my pocket as well.
thunder306-u do hav a point :hick:
CougarSE-thanks fer the research, u da man. and I'm still wanting to bring my turbo up for u to work on to be road worthy.
He seems ready to deal as well. I got a reply.
GUYS!!! PRICE, anyone????????????
I had someone randomly email me a few months ago asking me to sell my kitty (the sender saw it on coolcats as well), so it isn't that random. As long as you are careful with the sale, it should be fine.
He's obviusly looking for one that is totally un-modified, which is what I have as well. There are others, but not real close to his home as well.
Not from anyone who has actually seen a picture of my car, no! :hick:
You have no worries if someone locally can deal with you and pay you for it. Be sure to have another person with you whenever meeting with someone, rather than just yourself.
Not nessasarly! My son is Army and has an army e-mail address but uses a yahoo.com (I think it is) account. As he said something about when deployed in Iraq they would not let them use the .army account for security reasons (a few years ago). So he opened the yahoo and just uses it instead of switching back and forth every time he get's deployed.
Sounds ligit at this point to me, expecialy with a real person contact at this end
Yes, all the time until I pulled my email address everywhere I had it posted. No guestbook available on my Cardomains either. Even after pulling all those off, someone did a whois search on me and found my email address that way so I proxied those domains after that.
$2500-$2900 Start at $2900 or $3000 and be willing to negotiate down to $2500.
I didn't know that. That's actually good to know. Thanks
$5-10
Those numbers sound good to me. Thanks.
thats classic:bowdown:
if you wanna test him, ask him what an MRE bomb is.
I forgot to read the bad, considering that I would say $1600-2000
Other members have seen the car as well. She is very clean and no mods.
Just can't do it. I always hated letting go of most of my cars. The thought of selling it was killing me. I feel better now.
Thanks for the replies everybody.
