What kind of transmissions were in the 84-86 broncos? I have a whole new 5.0 and trans coming for 300 bucks from an old bronco. Not positive what year exactly it is. How hard would it be to swap to a C4? Would it be easier to go with a t5? I know I need a pedal and a clutch master cylinder for a manual trans. I`m looking for something a little stronger than the stock aod.
c6 or aod more than likely a c6.
I have an 84 full size, and mine came with a stick. The original trans was a py 3 spd with an overdrive, it made the truck completely gutless. i just recently swapped in a New Process 435 with a granny low first gear. I think the first gear ratio is something like 6.72!! I have not got to drive it yet on this new transmition becasue I can not get the hydrolic clutch system to bleed properly for me. But it should be nasty when it does :D Now, if you are meaning an auto trans, it should be an C6 unless it was swapped... you did not make it clear if it was manual or auto... HTH

Yeah, you'll probably be able to get 15mph outta 1st...
and pull a house doing it  no, but I am very aware of how this transmition will be, my cousin had one similar (borg warner T-18)in an 82 F-250 mated to a 300 straight six. I was very happy with how it performed off road!! It will see allot of wheelin when its done ;) pics will be posted when its together, i have some pretty neat stuff planned for it. Sorry for hijaking  .

My old '85 Bronco had a 351w 4bbl and a C6.
My 81 F150 came with a 300 I6 and a NP435. You can pull anything with that setup, even with 200k + on the engine:hick: just not very fast.
The 351 adn C6 are now in the '81 and the Bronco was recycled
my 85 f150 4x4 has an AOD. C6 if you had no OD. The NP435 is indeed 6.72:1 in most versions. 1st will wind up in a hurry. I love them though. That coupled with a NP208 in low will crawl pretty good for a stock drivetrain.
I was told It`s an auto transmission.
