I have a lead on a parts car. It's been sitting untouched for just about 3 years now and I finally got to the place where it is while they were open. The owner will be in Friday and I guess I'll be trying to make a deal then.
Some info on the car:
1988 Cougar XR7 5.0 Black w/Red leather interior and turbine wheels.
The good:
-Full console car
-Body is striaght appears to never have been hit
-paint is faded, but intact
-doors are near perfect no dents minor suface rust on right side door 1/4" diammeter in size
-inner marker lights are great
-buttstuffog cluster
-All trim/moulding is in place
-Sport wheel (decent condition -- worn around rim otherwise very nice)
-inner door panels in great condition (except the door handle inserts of course)
-Tail lights are pristine. They have NO marks on them
-system sentry car
-factory EQ power button actually works without having to be wedged
-turbine wheels in great condition - need cleaning
-main console and dash inlays are good
-dual power seats
-has both auto dim and autolamp
-trunklid is dent and rust free
The bad:
-Headlight lenses are unsalavageable
-Front seats are ripped pretty bad
-dash cracked in many places
-rear quarter window and side passenger window are smashed (vandals)
-console lid and switchplate both look ratty
The Unknown:
-I assume this car doesn't run as it hasn't been registered since mid 2004. Not sure yet. I'm not looking for drivetrain parts anyway.
Bearing all this in mind I only require a few parts off this car for myself. The rest would be posted for sale here. If I do go through with this I'll be taking the inner markers, the outer markers, and the tail lights for "just in case" purposes. There are a couple of other minor parts from underhood I'll make room for here as well. The rest of the car will be parted and the items posted here ;)
So what would a fair price be to pay for this car?

3to5 hundred,S will get you 200 at least,you got to figure parts wise what you could get.Also how much time and space your willing to do.Couple of hundred more if you new it ran.
How many miles?
Is the interior trashed from the elements?
What color are the turbines?
depends on what he knows about the car imo
if he is familiar with the "rarity" of it, if you want to call it that hell probly want more than 500 bucks if it aint rusted to hell and the obligitory "five o" value adder running or not
anything less than that wouldnt be too bad though but it "is" tax season and the price of everything "has" to go up, even junk if you get what i mean:beatyoass:
theres an 87-8 cougar xr-7 near me thats been kinda sitting around for some time(more than a year easily) maybe i should see what the owner is doing with it;)
~$400-500. I could have picked up a gold 88 LX 5.0 T-bird last year in about the same shape but with lower door rot for about $350. Interior was minty and it ran ok. I just had no where to put it (now I do though:hick: ).
Well the spot I was gonna keep it at aint gonna happen. Innes, PM me, the guy wants this thing GONE! I need some parts, but was gonna just sell off most of it.
